Springs in the air at Grey Towers
MILFORD, PA Grey Towers will offer special pre-season tours inside and out this spring. Visitors can view the gardens, including the historic sweet cherry tree on a special landscape tour on Saturday, May 3, at 1:30 p.m. And there will be a special tour of all three floors of the mansion on Saturdays and Sundays at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. from May 3 until Memorial Day weekend, when the site opens for the season seven days a week.
On the landscape tour, U.S. Forest Service Horticulturist Elizabeth Hawke will lead Evolution of the Grey Towers Landscape: Springtime in Cornelias Gardens and introduce visitors to the native flowering shrubs, the cherry tree, which may be in full bloom, the flowering bulbs along the Locust Allee and other unique features of the historic landscape. Group size is limited and pre-registration is suggested. Regular tour fees apply. Participants should meet in the Visitor Pavilion located in the parking lot and wear comfortable shoes for this walking tour.
The three-floor mansion tour is unusual because the second and third floors of the mansion usually are not included in the regular tour. Regular fees apply for these special three-floor tours.
