MARY LOUISE ADAM
Mary Louise Adam of Lake Placid, FL, was promoted to heaven on Tuesday, April 8, 2008. She was 72.
She was born May 28, 1935 to Charles and Martha McGrath in Livingston Manor, NY.
She moved to Callicoon Center, NY to run her grandparents farm. After her father died of heart failure and her mother took a job as school librarian, she moved to Callicoon, NY. She graduated from Delaware Valley Central School and attended St. Lukes Nursing School in New York City. She worked over 40 years as a registered nurse in hospitals in New York State and Florida. She was an active member of the Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Catholic Daughters and the National Womens Society.
A family statement reads: Mary Louise will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Mary Louise is survived by her husband, Richard J. Adam; her five children, John, Paul, Jane, Kurt and Nora all of New York; two siblings, Ruth and Bill; and 10 grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her sister, Lois.
A mass service will take place at St. James Church in Lake Placid, followed by a memorial service in New York in early summer.
KATHERINE A. KITTY BULLOCK
Katherine A. Kitty Bullock of Port Jervis, NY, a longtime resident of the area, died Friday, April 11, 2008 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. She was 79.
She was born September 30, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Paul and the late Katherine Agnes Quinn Brickson. She married Harold Bullock 58 years ago in St. Michaels R.C. Church in Brooklyn.
She was a member of St. Josephs R.C. Church, Matamoras, PA.
A family statement read: Kitty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved her cats and will be missed by all.
Surviving are her husband Harold at home; son Howard Bullock and his wife Jean of Bethlehem, PA; daughters Cindy Ward and her husband Jerry of Port Jervis, NY and Susan Claisse and her husband Victor Sr. of Sparrowbush, NY; grandchildren Christine Boniface, David Claisse, Christopher Bullock, Jon Bullock, Victor Claisse Jr.; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday, April 14, with a morning prayer at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, Port Jervis, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Josephs R.C. Church, Matamoras, with the Rev. August A. Ricciardi officiating. Burial was at St. Marys Cemetery, Port Jervis.

SARAH NUTTYCOMBE CHEAPE
Sarah Nuttycombe Cheape passed away peacefully at the Wayne Woodlands Manor, Waymart, PA on Friday, April 4, 2008. She was 101 years old.
She was born in Charlottesville, VA to Wallace R. and Sarah Frances Hopkins Nuttycombe on August 1, 1906.
Sarah was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Charlottesville, VA. She had a commitment to family both present and past.
She was the widow of John William Nixon, Jesse Owens Steger and Windsor Cheape.
She is survived by two nephews, Thomas H. Nuttycombe and his wife Sandy of Narrowsburg, NY and Charles Wallace Nuttycombe and his wife Betsy of Newport News, VA; two nieces, Sally Rutherford and her husband Albert of Honesdale, PA and Betty Van Valkenburg and her husband David of Richmond, VA; great-nephews, great-nieces and great-great nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by her three husbands and a stepson, Windsor Cheape; a stepdaughter, Yvonne C. Ward and three brothers, John William Wallace R. and Hopkins P. Nuttycombe.
A memorial service will be held on May 3, 2008 at noon at the Hill and Wood Memorial Chapel In Charlottesville. Memorial gifts may be made in honor to the First United Methodist Church, 101 E. FRANCIS R. HENKE
Francis R. Henke of Callicoon, NY, a retired dairy farmer, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center in Honesdale, PA. He was 87.
The son of the late Bernard and Veronica Wiegard Henke, he was born on December 5, 1920 in Callicoon.
He was a member of Holy Cross Church in Callicoon.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Hebert Henke of Port Jervis, NY; his children, David Henke and his wife Chris of Harford, NY, Kathryn Coleman and her husband Gary of Port Jervis, NY, Bernard Henke and his wife Donna of Pine Bush, NY, Diane Drinkard and her husband Hans of Stratford, CT., Paul Henke and his wife Connie of Gardiner, NY, Francis Henke and his wife Marlena of Horse Heads, NY; and a daughter-in-law, Kim Henke of Callicoon; two brothers, Conrad Henke and his wife Helen of Lansing, MI and James Henke of Callicoon; 17 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son, Michael B. Henke; his four brothers, Joseph, George, Carl and William Henke; and his two sisters, Rose Henke and Mary Orth.
A funeral mass was held on Friday, April 11 at Holy Cross Church in Callicoon. Father Ignatius Smith OFM officiated.
Burial was made in Holy Cross Cemetery in Callicoon.

ROGER A. HOWARD
Roger A. Howard of Matamoras, PA passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2008, at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, NY. He was 53.
He was born February 18, 1955 in Port Jervis, the son of Elizabeth Norton Bohannon and the late George Bohannon. He was married to Susan Culver Howard for 23 years, who survives at home.
Roger was a supervisor for the Department of Public Works, Borough of Matamoras, PA. He was a life member of the Matamoras Fire Department and affiliate member of the Drew United Methodist Church in Port Jervis. He spent many happy hours with his fellow coffee crew at Chrissies Corner.
A family statement read: Roger was a loving husband, father, brother and son.
In addition to his wife and son Roger, at home, he is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Glass and her husband Kenneth of Port Jervis; his mother, Elizabeth Bohannon of Matamoras; three brothers, Robert (his twin) of Matamoras, Walter of Sparrowbush, NY, Joseph of Westtown, NY and PA; two sisters, Patricia Reynolds of North Carolina and Elizabeth Knight of Pittsburgh. He is also survived by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Edwin and Agnes Culver of Port Jervis; two brothers-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Daniel Howard.
Funeral services were held April 3, 2008 in the Drew United Methodist Church, Port Jervis, where the Rev. Robert Cassidy officiated. Interment was private.

RICHARD E. LAPERSONERIE
Richard E. LaPersonerie of Narrowsburg, NY, a longtime resident of the area, died unexpectedly on Thursday, April 10, 2008. He was 64.
The son of the late Marshall F. and Mary Shay LaPersonerie, he was born October 25, 1943, in Brooklyn, NY.
He was married for 21 years to Michelle Porcelyn LaPersonerie, who survives.
A family statement read: Richard was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid fisherman who could bring a smile to everyones face. He will truly be missed.
Survivors include his wife Michelle at home; two sons, Patrick and his wife Alison of Amityville, Long Island and James and his wife Jennifer of Old Bridge, NJ; seven grandchildren, Brian, Sean, Christian, Camryn, Jenna, Jimmy and Cecilia; one brother, James of Philadelphia; and several nieces and nephews.
Richard was predeceased by a son, Phillip; and a brother, Robert.
Friends were invited to call on Sunday, April 13, 2008 at Rasmussen Funeral Home, 90 Main St. Narrowsburg, NY.
Cremation followed at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel, PA.
BENTON WALLACE MITCHELL
Benton Wallace Mitchell of Barryville, NY, owner of Bakers Tap Room, a retired machinist and longtime resident of the area, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, NY. He was 85.
The son of the late Wallace Mitchell and Helen Mitchell Novak, he was born April 16, 1922 in Yonkers, NY. He was the widower of Margaret R. Baker Mitchell, who passed away on December 19, 2000.
Benton was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a former member of the Beaverbrook Rod & Gun Club and the American Sportsman Club. He held meetings in the taproom for the Women and Mens Shuffle Board Clubs.
A family statement read: Benton was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather who was dedicated to his family and business. He was known as a Grumpy Bartender, but he was truly loved by many and had a great following. He will be truly missed.
Survivors include his son, Kenneth Mitchell of Longview, TX; his daughter, Debra Landsiedel and her husband John of Stanford, CT; six grandchildren, Ashley Nugent, Alexander Nugent, Kirsten Mitchell, Kasey Mitchell, Kenneth Mitchell Jr. and Kimberly Marchesi; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 12, at 12:00 noon in the Gray-Rasmussen Funeral Home, Barryville, with the Rev. Nancy Vonderhorst officiating. Burial took place in Montoza Cemetery, Barryville, NY.

TATIANA OSADCA
Tatiana Osadca of Glen Spey, NY and a long time resident of the area, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at home. She was 88.
She was born May 5, 1919 in Ponykva, Ukraine, the daughter of the late Stefan and Stefania Romaniuk Zuk.
She was a member of St. Volodymyrs Ukrainian Catholic Church, Glen Spey.
Tatiana was a wonderful mother and artist. She was always there to lend a hand to those in need in both Ukraine and the United States. She was married for 59 years to the late Apollinare Osadca, the architect for St. Volodymyr´s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Glen Spey. She published the family history of Apollinare and Tatiana Osadca, including their architectural and artistic achievements through the years. Her artwork is on display in museums throughout Ukraine.
Surviving are her daughters, Tatiana Demchuk of Cary, NC, Christine Pauksis and her husband Ivars, Franklin, NY and Ivanna Osadca, Glen Spey; her sister, Oxanna Jetter, Cary; granddaughters Iness Snider and her husband Mike, Franklin, Lubov Demchuk, Winnetka, CA, Tatiana Guy and her husband David, Cary and Alina Pauksis, Franklin.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 12, 2008 with a Liturgy Mass in St. Volodymyrs Ukrainian Catholic Church, Glen Spey, with Rev. Yaroslav Kostyk officiating.
Burial was at Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Hamptonburg, NY.

CONCETTA 'TINA' PATALONA
Concetta Tina Patalona of Kauneonga Lake, NY, a retired neonatal nurse, died Saturday, April 12, 2008 at her sons home in Cochecton, NY. She was 88.
The daughter of the late Ciro Petriccione and Gilda Esposito Petriccione, she was born May 18, 1919 in Naples, Italy. She met her husband, an American soldier stationed in Naples, Italy, during World War II.
She was a member of St. Peters Church in Monticello, NY and the Bethel Senior Citizens.
She is survived by two sons, Ronald A. Patalona and wife Maura of Middlesex, NJ and Albert J. Patalona and wife Karen of Cochecton; a daughter, Frances K. Washington and husband Joseph of Mongaup Valley, NY; a sister, Elvira Gentile of Naples, Italy; nine grandchildren, Thomas Klemmer, Melissa Patalona, Matthew Patalona, Andrew Hoffman Patalona, Beth Hoffman Patalona, Samantha Fuller, Stephen McCarthy, Zachary McCarthy and Ryan McCarthy; and five great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, A. Thomas Patalona; two brothers, Mario Petriccione and Renato Petriccione; and by her longtime companion, Charles Solowitz.
A prayer service was held on Tuesday, April 15 at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home in Monticello. Private burial took place on Wednesday at the Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY.

HANNAH ROSNEL
Hannah Rosnel, a resident of Ellenville, NY and the widow of Nathan Rosnel, lost her long battle with cancer on Sunday, April 13, 2008. She was 74.
Hannah was born December 8, 1933 in New York City, the daughter of Louis and Rachel Taylor Sirota.
She married Nathan Rosnel in New York City. The couple came to the area after retirement in 1976.
She was a member of Congregation Ezrath Israel. A family statement read: Hannah was a homemaker, retired keypunch operator and dental assistant. She loved her family, friends, pets, gardening and decorating. She was a great humanitarian and a beloved parent, grandparent, aunt and friend.
She is survived by her children, Marlena Rosnel of Narrowsburg, NY, Irwin Rosnel of California, Eileen Gavaris of Ellenville and her adopted daughter, Sheila Kufert of New Hampshire; her grandchildren, John Gavaris of Ellenville, Roy Gavaris, Ben Bleazard of Narrowsburg, Elana Sterling of Ellenville, Anton Rosnel of California, Amy Brennan of Florida; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held, Tuesday, April 15, 2008 in Congregation Ezrath Israel Synagogue, Ellenville. Rabbi Moshe Frank officiated. Burial was in Ezrath Israel Cemetery, Wawarsing, NY.
