ELDRED, NY — The Town of Highland met on April 8 and discussed the following:

• Grievance Day stirred complaints and supervisor Tina Palecek pledged possible improvements based on a visit to Senator Bonacic’s office.

•A plaque commending Officer Ronald Schneider for his voluntary repair of police vehicle 103 was presented.

• Chief Michael Walton cited increased incidences of drunken and disorderly conduct during the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Yulan. Walton said the situation has worsened over recent years and should be addressed before the 2009 event.

• Protecting important town documents from the threat of fire was discussed with no clear solution. Under consideration are fireproof filing cabinets at a cost of $2,000 each, a fireproof room or storage on computers.

• Robert Thompson of Yulan was welcomed as the town’s new code enforcement officer. He was selected from 9 candidates and brings 25 years of experience to the job.

• Glen Goldstein, Yulan, was approved as a Planning Board Alternate.

• The Town Cleanup will be held on May 17 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
