Panthers to host inaugural John Spear Memorial Baseball Tournament

Four county teams will vie for trophy as beloved coach is remembered

MONTICELLO, NY — John Spear loved the game of baseball and those who played for him at Monticello High School respected and admired him as well. In his memory, Monticello High School will host its inaugural John Spear Memorial Baseball Tournament on April 19. The following is a schedule of the day’s events.

8:00 a.m. Livingston Manor vs. Liberty

10:30 a.m. Fallsburg vs. Monticello

1:30 p.m. Championship game at Monticello High School

1:30 p.m. Consolation game at Somerville Field (next to the Cooke Elementary School).

Winners will receive a championship trophy for their school. Members of John Spear’s family will be throwing out the first ball.
