Lander and Houghtaling honored

Sullivan West players among Section 9 girls basketball state noteworthy

NEW WINDSOR, NY — The Section Nine Girls Basketball Coaches Association held its annual breakfast on April 6 at the Meadowbrook Lodge to honor the region’s best. Sullivan West’s Rachel Houghtaling and Sarah Lander were recognized, along with other Section Nine standouts. Lander was named to the All-State eighth team in Class B.

She was also cited by the State of New York Girls Basketball Coaches Association as a member of the All-Academic Team. To receive this honor, players had to have an average of 90 or better and be a contributing member to their varsity teams.

Houghtaling and Lander were also selected to the Class B All-Section Nine team and to the OCIAA Division IV All-Star team.
