English films the theme at Monday Night Cinema’s spring series

HONESDALE, PA — The spring series of the Wayne County Arts Alliance’s Monday Night Cinema festival has started. The series, screened at Cinema 6 in Honesdale and funded in part through a Villaume Foundation grant, is a Hollywood alternative, bringing Wayne County the best in classic, foreign and independent films.

The films on the schedule this spring are all English, and include “If” on April 14, “The 39 Steps” on April 21, “Get Carter” on April 28, “Blow Up” on May 5, “Withnail & I” on May 12, “The Italian Job” on May 19, “A Clockwork Orange” on May 26 and “Blade Runner” on June 2.

Showtime for all films is 8:15 p.m., and curator Ted Malakin provides a brief overview of the film. Following each film, there is a discussion giving audience members the opportunity to explore the meaning and creative process of film as a modern art form. The suggested donation is $5 per person and the donation goes to support WCAA’s community programs.
