Pike partnership exchange
By TOM KANE
MILFORD, PA ? Pike County is on the move population-wise, but its also on the move planning-wise.
The second-fastest growing county in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is experiencing, and will continue experiencing, growing pains well into the future, despite slow downs in the economy.
Besides taking some innovative steps like having residents vote on and approve a $10 million bond issue to help with preserving open space and beefing up its planning department, Pike County Commissioners are trying some new measures not tried before. That is, not until last year, when they held a county and municipal leaders partnership exchange and decided that it was so successful that they would do it again this year.
The Second Annual Pike County Municipal Leaders Partnership Exchange will be held on Friday, April 4 at Woodloch Springs Clubhouse from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
Were inviting anyone who is serving government in any capacity to attend, said Rich Caridi, commissioners chair.
That includes township supervisors, borough council members, municipal secretaries, planning commission members, zoning hearing board members, building inspectors, sewage directors, zoning officers and emergency management coordinators.
Were even encouraging solicitors and engineers to attend, Caridi said. Its the only way to go.
The breakfast meeting will be conducted by county department heads, who will share information and ask for input from the people who are on the front lines.
We need to establish communication lines so that were missing nothing, Caridi said.
Information on funding and technical assistance that is available from the county and from the state will be presented. Registration and a complimentary breakfast buffet start promptly at 8:00 a.m. Those interested in attending should reserve a seat by emailing mulmer@pikepa.org or calling 570/226-8220.
