Lumiri Tubo serenades Cole in kickoff to Tusten Theater’s season

NARROWSBURG, NY — Local vocalist and performer Lumiri Tubo, backed by a jazz trio, will present “A Tribute to Nat King Cole” at the Tusten Theatre on Saturday, April 12 at 8:00 p.m. Her renditions will include “The Very Thought of You,” “Orange Sky” and “Route 66.” The show kicks off the Tusten’s 2008 season of music, theatre, video, and opera and coincides with Narrowsburg’s Upper Delaware Lifestyles event (see page 22).

Tubo started her singing career in the Catskills at The Bradstan Country Hotel, and has appeared at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center’s Rose Room, and most recently at The Palazzo Colombino in Switzerland and Germany. Her pure emotional interpretations, coupled with her outstanding vocal ability, have garnered her rave reviews from critics and audiences.

Tubo will perform alongside John Hart on bass, Billy Alfred on piano and Phil Nester on drums.

The 80-year-old art deco-style Tusten Theatre is located at 210 Bridge Street and features an eight-month schedule of cultural programming including jazz, opera, performance art, folk music and theatre. The 2008 season continues throughout the summer with two one-man shows by Peterson Toscano on April 25 and 26, acoustic duo Jay Ungar and Molly Mason on May 3, DIGIT: Digital Media Exposition from June 13 to 15, and the Delaware Valley Opera from July 25 to August 17.

Tickets cost $15. Delaware Valley Arts Alliance members get $2.50 off advance sales.
