‘Mugs and Mugshots’

opens CAG season

LIBERTY, NY — The Catskill Artists Gallery, at 38 South Main Street in Liberty, announces its exhibition schedule for the upcoming art season, will open its 2008 season with a show, open to all artists, based on the theme “Mugs and Mugshots.” The works on exhibit are mugs (functional, non-functional, or representations) or mugshots (portraits of humans or animals) or some creative merging of the two, in any medium. There will be an opening reception, with refreshments, and artists in attendance, on Saturday, April 12 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The show will be followed by a show of twice-woven wallhangings by Buff McAllister and new pottery by Kathy Jeffers running from Saturday, May 31 through Sunday, July 13. McAllister weaves strips of already-woven fabrics to create bold new works. Jeffers’ new pottery is as inventive as always, with her trademark touch of whimsy.

Other exhibits will include “Catskill Impressions,” an unjuried show open to all artists, and “Glitter & Glass,” the reprise of a show from last year that will include work from glass artist Cate Gundlah and new jewelry by Kathy Jeffers and Buff McAllister.

The gallery is open Friday and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. For more information visit catskillartistsgallery.com or call 845/292-0310.
