Tri-Valley gets it going at Conn-Madden relays

NEWPORT NEWS, VA — Traveling is part and parcel of the Tri-Valley track and field experience as coaches Joe and Missy Iatauro continue to provide opportunities for the Bears to compete outside of the region. On March 27 and 28, the Bears competed at the Conn Madden Relays.

The 6400 relay team of Caroline Bertholf, Shannon Hornbeck, Courtney Roosa and Naomi Weise finished second among 18 competing teams with a time of 23:32.1.

In the 3200 relay, the Lady Bears took second as the same quartet turned in a time of 10:53. Roosa, Bertholf, Hornbeck and Agnes Pompeii then combined to take third in the distance-medley relay with a time of 13:56.Pompeii took third in the high jump with a leap of 4-6.

The boys discus relay of Tanzeel Khan and Bob Fiedler (226-10) took third place, as did the shot put relay with the same duo as they recorded a combined distance of 84-2¼.
