RITA C. ANDREWSKI

Rita C. Andrewski of Lake Huntington, NY, a retired supervisor for Contel Telephone Co., a Wal-Mart cashier, a waitress for Cordaro’s Restaurant and a longtime resident, died Saturday March 22, 2008 at Wayne Woodlands Manor, Waymart, PA. She was 77.

The daughter of Thomas and Felicia Bellski Connole, she was born April 30, 1930 in Edwardsville, PA. She was the widow of Joseph Andrewski.

She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, Narrowsburg, NY and Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, Lake Huntington, NY. She was also a member of the Woman’s Democratic Committee and the March of Dimes.

A family statement read, “Rita was a loving mother and grandmother and she will be greatly missed by all.”

She is survived by a daughter, Marisa Andrewski and her life-long companion Mark Racht of Waymart, PA; a daughter-in-law, Priscilla Andrewski of Narrowsburg; two grandsons, Nicholas and Shane Andrewski; three sisters, Anne Hozempa of Harvey’s Lake, PA, Marge Burgess of Tennessee and Theresa Harper of San Diego, CA.

She is predeceased by a son, Mark Andrewski.

Friends are invited to call on Thursday March 27, 2008 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Friday, March 28, 2008 from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, Narrowsburg.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 28, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, Narrowsburg. Rev. William Scully OFM will officiate. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Narrowsburg.

FLORENCE BOSCH

Florence Bosch, a long-time resident of Highland Lake, NY passed away March 16, 2008 at Christiana Care Hospital in Newark, DE. She was 89.

Florence was born October 29, 1918 in Brooklyn, NY. She was the daughter of William and Katherine (Boehm) Schmerfeld and grew up in Ridgewood, Queens. After graduating high school in 1936, Florence worked on Wall Street as a bookkeeper. She married William Henry Bosch in 1942 and they moved to Highland Lake in 1945. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Eldred Preserve, was an active member of the Highland Lake Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary and a past officer of the Eldred Central School PTA.

Florence was a devoted wife and mother. She encouraged her sons, William and Kenneth, to pursue higher education. Her nieces and nephews have fond memories of visits to “Aunt Florence’s” in the Catskills. Florence had a sense of humor and a lively wit. She loved music, singing and spending time with her family.

Florence is survived by two sons, William and wife Francine of Oswego, NY and Kenneth and wife Betty of Newark; her sister, Catherine Winter, of Kings Park, NY; six grandchildren, Christian Bosch, Janie Trumbull, Abraham Bosch, Carrie Finnie, Stephen Bosch and Kelly Basch; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Florence was pre-deceased by her brother, William Schmerfeld; her sister, Anna Close; and her husband William of 48 years.

A funeral service was held on Friday, March 21, 2008 at 10.30 a.m. at the Gray- Rasmussen Funeral Home, Barryville, NY. Burial will follow at the Montoza Cemetery, Eldred, NY.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Highland Lake Fire Department, Highland Lake, NY.


HENRY FROESCHL

Henry Froeschl of Barryville, NY, a retired machinist and longtime resident of the area, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at Westchester Medical Center. He was 84.

The son of the late Maximillian and Margaret Kolb Froeschl, he was born September 28, 1923 in Bamberg, Germany. He was married to Genevieve Schaurer for 61 years, who survives.

Henry worked for Wegner Machinery Corp. He was a WWII Navy veteran. He was a member and usher for St. Ann’s R.C. Church in Shohola, PA, a member of the Shohola Fire Department and of the Town of Highland Seniors Club. A family statement read: “Henry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a tinkerer who could fix anything. He was a good person who will greatly be missed by all that knew him.”

Survivors include his wife at home; two daughters, Diane Tobin and husband Phillip of Middletown, RI and Marie Froeschl and husband Bill Scott of Essex, VT; one brother, Max and his wife Norma of Florida; five grandchildren; one step-granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.

He was predeceased by a son, Richard Froeschl.

Friends are invited to call for a memorial visitation on Friday, March 28, 2008 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Gray-Rasmussen Funeral Home, Route 97, Barryville, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann’s R.C. Church. Father Thomas Major will officate.

Burial of the cremains will take place in Montoza Cemetery, Barryville, NY.


LELAND GOODY

Leland Stanford Goody of Cherry Ridge, PA, died on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Mercy Hospital in Scranton, PA. He was 73.

His wife of 50 years is the former Arleen Louise Joline. The couple married September 14, 1957.

Born June 25, 1934 in Hackensack, NJ, he was the son of the late Leland Abram and Lillian Abram Blauvelt Goody. He worked in New Jersey for many years for several pharmaceutical companies as a quality control supervisor. After retiring, he and his wife moved to Honesdale, PA. He enjoyed doing work around his home and going fishing.

Also surviving are a son, Robert and wife Doris of Saylorsburg, PA; two daughters, Debra Lee Goody of Beach Lake, PA and Patricia Lynn Macri and husband Pasquale, of Newburgh, NY; a sister, Julia Clara Binko and husband Donald of Mahwah, NJ; and two granddaughters, Amanda Jean and Amber Julie.

Funeral services were held March 19, 2008 at Hessling Funeral Home, Honesdale.


DOROTHY M. GRADY

Dorothy M. Grady of Tyler Hill, PA, a housewife and longtime resident, died Friday, March 21 2008 in Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, PA. She was 94.

The daughter of the late Fred and Laura Rolston Coe, she was born February 15, 1914 in Fallsdale, PA. She was the widow of Francis A. Grady, to whom she was married for 63 years.

She was a graduate of Damascus Academy High School. She was a member of Damascus United Methodist Church and a member of the Labor Grange. A family statement reads: “Dorothy was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother and homemaker. She took great pride in her family, garden and flowers. She will greatly be missed by all.”

She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Grady and friend Lynn Reynolds of Tyler Hill; a son, Charles Grady and wife Betsy of Damascus; two grandchildren, Christopher Grady and wife Lynn and Sherry Iloff; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Wilcox of Milanville, PA.

She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Coe.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday March 16, 2008 at Rasmussen Funeral Home, Narrowsburg, NY, with the Rev. Jean Mackie officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Damascus.

DORIS A. LEWIS

Doris A. Lewis of Port Jervis, NY, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2008, at her home. She was 69.

She was born on August 11, 1938 in Port Jervis, the daughter of the late Edward Stanley Adams and Ethel Scott Lord, who survives. She was married to the late Joseph G. Lewis.

Doris was a retired customer representative for Kolmar Labs, Inc. in Port Jervis. She was a member of the Drew United Methodist Church in Port Jervis.

She is survived by her mother, Ethel Scott Lord of Milford, PA; her brother, Edward Adams and his wife Carolyn of Port Jervis; two sisters, Denise Osterhout and her husband John of Mohican Lake, NY and Debra Orben and her husband Gary of Milford; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services at Pine Grove Cemetery, Matamoras will be announced at a later time.

GERALD ‘JERRY’ LOVELACE

Gerald “Jerry” Lovelace of Pond Eddy, NY, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at his home. He was 78.

He was born at Buckhammon, WV on June 15, 1929, the son of the late Clarence and Minnie Lovelace.

Jerry was the founder and former owner of Jerry’s Three River Campground in Pond Eddy, NY. He was also a retired heavy equipment operator with Local Union #825, Newark, NJ. He was a U.S. Marine veteran serving during WW II. Jerry married Elizabeth May Constance Gilson Lovelace, who predeceased him.

He is survived by four sons, Pete and wife Debra of Pond Eddy, NY, Gerald and wife Laurie of Matamoras, PA, John of Port Jervis, NY, James and wife Mary Lynn of Norwich, NY; one daughter, Pamela Muller and husband John of Schenectady, NY; three brothers, James Lovelace of Port Jervis, Paul Lovelace of Indiana and Douglas Lovelace of Middletown, NY; one sister, Gail McKinley; 12 grandchildren including Super Pete Lovelace; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 21, 2008 at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Port Jervis. The Rev. Robert Mayer officiated. Interment will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush, NY.


GREGORY SCHURAWEL

Gregory Schurawel of Glen Spey, NY died Sunday, March 16, 2008 at home. He was 72.

He was born June 25, 1935 in Zolonosha, Ukraine, the son of the late Andreas and the late Lidya Fitz Schurawel.

Gregory married Nadia Litvyn on June 7, 1963 in Elizabeth, NJ. He was the owner and operator of Glen Manor Construction, Glen Spey, building custom homes. He was a founding member and builder of the Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Glen Spey. He was also a member of the UFA—Ukrainian Fraternal Association. He proudly served his country in the 101st Airborne.

A family statement read: “Gregory was a pillar of the community who was always there to lend a helping hand to those in need.’’

Surviving are his wife Nadia at home; sons Gregory Schurawel Jr. from Sarasota, FL, Andre Crane from Ft. Meyers, FL and Alexander Schurawel and his wife Bridgette from Sarasota; daughter Valerie Sylvester and her husband Gregory from Gainesville, GA; brother Dimitri Schurawel from Ft. Lauderdale, FL; sister Maria Czuchta and her husband Stephen from Brick, NJ; grandchildren Gregory Sylvester II and Spencer Elena Schurawel; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 22, 2008 with a Liturgy Mass at 9:00 a.m. in Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church with the V. Rev. Nestor Kowal officiating.

Burial was at St. Andrew’s Cemetery, So. Bound Brook, NJ.


FRANKLYN R. SMITH

Franklyn R. Smith of Webster, NY, formerly of Cochecton, NY, a retiree of Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, NY, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008 in Rochester. He was 47.

He was the son of the late Franklyn and Marie Smith.

Survivors include his loving companion, Patricia Collins and her family, Maureen Goodwin and husband George, Daniel Collins and wife Carol, Michele Collins, Terrence Collins and wife Lisa, Christine Huether and husband Dick, and Kathleen Collins; two brothers, Andrew Smith and his wife Linda and Matthew Smith and his wife Dena; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Marlene and Timothy Dobell.

Services were held Monday, March 24, 2008 at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Jeffersonville, NY. Burial will be made in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Narrowsburg, NY.
