Poetry contest
PENNSYLVANIA The Mulberry Poets & Writers Association (MPWA) has announced its seventh annual regional poetry contest. The winner of the contest will receive a $150 cash prize, with second place awarded $100 and third place $50. Several poets will be recognized with an honorable mention.
All winners will be invited to present their poetry at a public reading on or about Saturday, June 7 at the AFA Gallery, 514 Lackawanna Avenue, Scranton, PA. The winning poems will be published in the 2008 edition of The MPWA Journal.
The contest is open to former and current residents of Northeastern Pennsylvania. A maximum of three poems will be accepted, accompanied by an entrance fee of $2 per poem. Each poem must be original and unpublished, and should be typed on 8½-inch by 11-inch paper, single spaced except for intentional spacing. Each new poem should start on a new sheet of paper and take a maximum of three pages. If it exceeds one page, pages should be stapled. Include a cover letter with poets name, address, email, phone, and the title(s) of poems submitted. The poets names should not appear on the poems. Submitted poems will not be returned.
Submissions should be sent to MPWA Poetry Contest, P.O. Box 468, Scranton, PA 18501 by April 15. Winners will be notified by May 15.
