Church to host benefit organ concert

MILFORD, PA — The Good Shepherd & St. John’s Episcopal Church in Milford will present an organ concert by Mark Laubach on its recently purchased Schantz Organ on Sunday, March 30 at 4:00 p.m. Laubach has been Minister of Music at Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Wilkes-Barre since 1986 and is a teacher at Marywood University in Scranton. He is regarded as being among the finest organists of his generation in the U.S. The concert will feature some of his most accomplished organ students. Christopher Prestia, organist and choir director at Good Shepherd, will also be playing.

The organ arrived in Milford in 2007, but the fundraising for the instrument is still not complete. It will hold its third annual dinner to benefit the organ on Saturday, April 12 at Cliff Park Inn. “A Milford Musical Legacy” is the theme and the vision of the Church of the Good Shepherd to share the new Schantz Pipe Organ with music lovers and the Milford community at large.

The dinner will be run from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. For more information call 570/296-8123 weekdays between 9:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m.
