Learn what makes some local authors tick

MONTICELLO, NY — The Catskill Area Writers of Sullivan County will host “Meet the Authors” on Saturday, April 12, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at The Literacy Center, located at 63 North Street (across the street from the Sullivan County Government Center). It is an opportunity for the public to meet the members of the group.

The founder of the writers’ group is Martine Swerdling, Vice Presisent of Literacy Volunteers of Sullivan County. Initially, the writers’ group had four people, but quickly expanded to 15 people. The members of the writing group, who come from different areas of the county, love the idea of creative writing with a facilitator and the support of others. They published their first book, “Voices Within,” in 2006 and have just published their second book, “Diversity.” During the afternoon, attendees can hear about the individual authors’ experiences and the process of creative writing. Light refreshments will be served.
