Spooky spoofs at the Catskill
Arts Society
LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY Smiles of a Winter Night continues on Saturday, March 22 with a double-feature of movies combining chills and laughter shown at the Catskill Art Society at 48 Main Street. The first is Arsenic and Old Lace, a 1944 classic starring Cary Grant, Raymond Massey, Peter Lorre and Priscilla Lane, a frantic farce featuring some kindly old aunties who indulge in gentile mercy-killings of their hapless boarders and bury them in the basement, and a loony uncle who thinks hes Teddy Roosevelt and does the digging in what he believes is the Panama Canal. Second up is the 2004 film Shaun of The Dead, of which Carla Meyer of The San Francisco Chronicle said, Transforms the unintentional camp of zombie subgenre into full-on, hilarious comedy.
The show starts at 7:00 p.m. Admission for all or part of the evening costs $8 for CAS members, $10 for non-members.
