PocoNotes sponsors
four intimate acoustic storytelling events
WAVERLY, PA PocoNotes LLC will inaugurate its third season at the Waverly Community House at 1115 North Abington Road on Saturday, April 12, when it will unveil its latest version of its Hear Em... series.
Hear Em at The Comm is a series of four acoustic storytelling events featuring talented musicians, storytellers and entertainers who perform all over the world. Featured on April 12 will be Patrick Sweany. Having immersed himself in his dads extensive record collection, Sweany has been described as a musical omnivore, devouring every popular music sound of the last 70 years and mixing them all together seamlessly to create a sound that isnt a copy at all, but strictly his own. He has toured widely, and has landed a perennial slot at Jormas legendary Fur Peace Ranch, among other guitarists such as G.E. Smith (Saturday Night Live Band), Bill Kirchen (Commander Cody and His Planet Airmen) and Bob Margolin (Muddy Waters Band).
The remaining three programs will feature Toby Walker on Saturday, June 28, Spencer Bohren on Saturday, September 13 and Roy Book Binder on Saturday, November 9. These musicians, with the assistance of some of this areas greatest talent, will turn The Comm into an intimate music venue where they will share their life-long passion for authentic, traditional and uniquely American blues and folk music with their audience.
There will be an educational workshop to be held prior to each evenings musical performance. The workshops will be designed by the featured artists, and each will be different. Workshop class size will be limited; therefore, reservations must be made in advance.
Tickets for the performance cost $20 for advance sales and $25 at the door, and are available either at The Comm or at PocoNotes.com.
Support for this program has been provided in part by a Lackawanna County Arts and Cultural Grant, a program of the Lackawanna County Commissioners and the Lackawanna County Council on Arts, Education and Culture.
