An evening of song

MILFORD, PA — Kindred Spirits Arts Programs’ first offering for its 2008 season will be a concert that celebrates the return of spring and the wonder of the human voice. It will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 15 at Saint Patrick’s Hall on High Street.

Beginning with music from the English Baroque period, the program also features selections by some of the greatest composers who wrote in German and French. The evening starts with love songs by Henry Purcell. Then mezzo soprano Jamie Van Eyck and baritone Christopher Herbert will explore a variety of European songs by Schubert, Brahms and Mahler, sung in the original German and French, and works for the voice by Berlioz, Fauré and Ravel. The concert concludes with Romantic works by some of the 20th century’s greatest songwriters, including Butterworth and Cole Porter.

Tickets cost $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. They can be purchased in advanced at Born To Be, located in Forest Hall, at the corner of Broad and Harford Streets.
