Heart-rending losses terminate fine runs; exit wounds suffered by all 10 county teams prior to finals

SULLIVAN COUNTY, NYCrowds came in droves to SUNY Orange and SUNY New Paltz this past weekend to cheer on their teams in the Section Nine basketball championships, but not one of the 10 Sullivan County teams who had entered the 2008 sectional tournament was still among those vying for a title.
Each and every one had fallen in the rounds leading up to the finals, many against teams that would go on to become this years champions.

Section Nine Indoor Track State Qualifier
Bound for states

WEST POINT, NYFor most indoor track athletes, this past winter season is fading into memory. But for the elite of Section Nine, the chance to advance, first to the state meet slated for Cornell University in Ithaca, NY on March 8 and then to the nationals at the Armory in New York City on March 15, is still an alluring prospect.
The best of the best from Section Nine gathered at West Point for the state qualifier on March 2. The meet had been postponed from February 29, due to inclement weather.

NYSPHSAA Alpine Ski Championships
Egenes and Heins best of Section Nine at states

LAKE PLACID, NY - Fallsburg/Tri-Valleys Chris Egenes was the top Section Nine boys finisher at the NYSPHSAA Alpine Ski Championships at Lake Placid on February 29. He finished in 12th place.
Monticellos Haley Heins was Section Nines top girl finisher. She took 27th in the slalom and 32nd in the giant slalom.
