Shohola Lake snapshot
As we approach the vernal equinox later this month on March 20, winter prepares to pass from our region with early signs of thaw and increased flow in area waterways. Just below the dam at Shohola Lake in Shohola, PA, energetic runoff from recent storms and rising temperatures hinted at the watery rush to come. But just on the other side of the dam, the lake remained sufficiently frozen to allow ice fishing fans to practice their sport. Such variability is a hallmark of the seasonal transition.
