AUGUST ANSCHUETZ JR
August Anschuetz Jr. of Greeley, PA died Sunday February 24, 2008 at his home. He was 95.
The son of the late August Sr. and Mary Schuetzle Anschueu, he was born February 9, 1913 in Greeley. He was a retired maintenance man for Reber Restaurant, Barryville, NY. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran.
He is survived by great-nieces and nephews.
Magna J. Austin
Magna J. Austin of Honesdale, PA, died Saturday, February 23, 2008 in Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. She was six months old.
Born August 13, 2007, she was the daughter of John J. Austin and Erica Erickson Baldwin of Honesdale.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, Wolfgang Austin at home; grandparents Erica and Sharman Erickson of Beach Lake, PA, Georgia and Thomas Cyganick of Honesdale and John and Susannah Austin of Milanville, PA; godparents Richard and Betsy Austin of Milanville; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 1, 2008 in the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, Honesdale with the Rev. James Corbin of the Beach Lake Free Methodist Church officiating.

JOHN E. DOTY SR
John E. Doty Sr. of Cochecton, NY, died on February 29, 2008 at Westchester Medical Center after an 11-week struggle from a tragic accident. He was 57.
John was born on April 19, 1950 in Middletown, NY to Albert and Gertrude Doty.
Survivors include his loving wife of 25 years, Sheila Platt Doty at home; his father, Albert Doty of Mt. Hope, NY; a son, John E. Doty Jr. and wife Marie; grandchildren John E. Doty III, Richard, Robert and Sarina Bodnar of Otisville, NY; a daughter, Christine A. Doty, her companion Conrad and an expected grandson of Middletown, NY; his siblings, Irene McNear of Henryville, PA, George Doty and wife Peggy of Anchorage, AK, Frank Doty and wife Maria of Otisville, Levi Doty and wife Ella of Canada, Donald Doty of Swan Lake, NY, Ellen Rice and husband Lloyd of Mt. Hope, NY and Patrick Doty of Glen Spey, NY; mother-in-law Arlene Platt; sister in-law Darlene DeMartino and husband Joe; brother in-law Donald Platt Jr. and wife Pam, all of Wurtsboro, NY; his longtime friends Ken Williamson of Cuddebackville, NY and Russ Bernhardt of Cochecton; and many nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his mother, Gertrude H. Doty; his brother, Albert Doty III; his father-in-law, Donald Platt Sr.; and his sister-in-law, Sharon Platt.
John was a lifetime member of the Otisville Vol. Fire Company, and the National Rifle, National and New York State Trappers associations. He was a co-founding and life-member with Roland Miller of the Orange County Trappers, President of the Sullivan County Trappers, a prospective member and friend of the Cherokee Preserve Club and member of the Pennsylvania Pyrotechnic Artists. He was employed by Sullivan County BOCES and a self-employed Wildlife Nuisance Control Agent for NYS. John was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, trap and boat. He was a civil war buff who built replica cannons and put on fireworks displays.
Firematic services were held on Tuesday, March 4 at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home in Wurtsboro, NY. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, March 5 at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeff Farley officiating.

GENEVA JENNY GROSSMAN
Generva Jenny Grossman of Cochecton, NY passed away on Friday, February 22, 2008 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, NY. She was 79.
She was born in Swan Lake, NY on August 23, 1928 to the late Norman and Helen Rundle Hathaway. She was the widow of Leon Grossman, who died December 26, 1998. She and Leon operated Club 52 in Loch Sheldrake for many years.
She is survived by three sons, George Mike Hathaway of Cochecton, Robert Grossman and wife Rebecca of Narrowsburg, NY and Richard Grossman and fiancé Carolyn Colton of Jeffersonville, NY; two sisters, Catherine Zeininger and husband Donald of Livingston Manor, NY and Shirley Johnson of Monroe, NY; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by three brothers, Roger, Ben and Erastus Hathaway; and three sisters, Marie Ratner, Elsie Hathaway and Lettie Hathaway.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at Ramseys Funeral Home, Inc. in Liberty, NY with Rev. John Thomason officiating.
Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh, NY.
ANNA KMETZ
Anna Kmetz of Waymart, PA and formerly of Toms River, NJ, a retired line supervisor and homemaker, died February 20, 2008 at Wayne Wood Manor, Waymart. She was 92.
The daughter of the late John and Anna Kopko, she was born July 8, 1915 in Passaic, NJ. She was married to the late John Kmetz for 39 years.
Anna was an active member of the Holy Name Slovak Catholic Church in Passaic, NJ and a member of the Republican Club of Passaic County. A family statement read: Mom was a wonderful loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
She is predeceased by her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Joseph Barblock.
She is survived by her son, John and wife Collette of Toms River; a daughter, Darlene Rembish and husband Stanley of Lake Huntington, NY; twin sisters, Florence Kravec and husband Michael of Clifton, NJ and Emma Difilippi and husband Sam of Toms River; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held February 25, 2008 at St. Francis Xavier RC Church, Narrowsburg, NY with Father William Scully O.F.M. officiating. Christian burial will be at East Ridgelawn Cemetary, Clifton, NJ.
JANIS LEE (CURRY) OSBORNE
Janis Lee (nee Curry) Osborne, of Port Jervis, NY, died on March 1, 2008 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY of complications from diabetes, congestive heart failure and leukemia. She was 64.
She was born in Hartford, CT on April 17, 1943, but was a resident of Port Jervis for most of her life. She was the daughter of John Curry and Zita Codichini Curry Innella; granddaughter of Ercole and Rose Codichini and Ted and Bernice Curry; and stepdaughter of Sam Innella. Her husband was Peter Osborne, executive director of the Minisink Valley Historical Society. Earlier in life, she was married to William G. McCann. She was an editor and writer for The Union Gazette, The Tri-State Gazette and The Gazette in Port Jervis, and wrote a column that chronicled her life and times. She won several awards and authored a book of favorite columns written over 20 years.
She served as a chairman of the Depot Preservation Society and was instrumental in the restoration of the Port Jervis Erie Depot with her husband. She was a member of the Port Jervis Salvation Army Advisory Board, the Port Jervis Centennial Committee, Friends of the Port Jervis Library, a monthly library book discussion group, and the Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship of Sussex County in Newton, NJ.
She is survived by her husband; three children and their spouses, Thomas and Gina McCann of Port Jervis, Michael and Melissa McCann of Port Jervis, and Megan McCann and David Earl of Plano, TX; a stepson, Ryan Osborne of Goshen, NY; grandchildren Cassie, Ryan, Nicole, Joshua and Cody McCann, Natasha and husband Robert Gurliacci, Bradley, Brittany, Liam and Robert Bauer, and Jacob Scott and Lucas and Zoe Earl; a great-grandson, Dominick Gurliacci; a great-granddaughter, Bryanna McCann; half brother Michael Innella and Charlene of Port Jervis; two sister-in-laws and brothers-in-law, Beth and Gary Stenftennagel of North Haledon, NJ and Mary and Steve Schwake of Hewett, NJ; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her mother, Zita Innella; her stepfather; aunt Anita McCoy; cousins Joseph and John Codichini.
The family will receive friends and relatives at Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Port Jervis on Thursday, March 6, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
A celebration of her life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church on Broome Street, Port Jervis, on Saturday, March 8, at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Mary Tiebout and the Rev. Stephen Houston officiating. Mrs. Osbornes ashes will be commingled with her husbands when he dies and be scattered on the Appalachian Trail in Stokes State Forest and at Cape May, NJ.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Port Jervis Free Library for books and toys for the childrens room in honor of Mrs. Osbornes grandchildren, or to the Port Jervis Salvation Army Needy Fund.
ROBERT H. PRICE
Robert H. Price of Honesdale, PA, a truck driver and lifelong area resident, died Sunday, February 24, 2008 at home. He was 58.
The son of the late Clarence and Gloria Kerber Price, he was born on December 8, 1949 in Callicoon, NY.
He was a Vietnam veteran and served in the U.S. Marines. He loved this area and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include his son, Scott Price and wife Kelly of Honesdale; his daughter, Theresa Price of Beach Lake; two brothers, Marvin Price and wife Betty of Tyler Hill, PA and Randall Price and wife Jean of Damascus, PA; two grandchildren, Kaitlin and Abigail; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends were invited to call on Friday, February 29, 2008 at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, Narrowsburg, NY. Burial will take place at Hillside Cemetery, Damascus, PA.
FRANCIS P. FRANK UNTENER
Francis P.Frank Untener of St. Augustine, FL died January 27, 2008 at Flagler Hospital, St. Augustine. He was 76.
He was a native and longtime resident of Yonkers, NY and had resided in St. Augustine since 1996. Frank served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War as a diesel mechanic. After his discharge, he continued to work as a diesel mechanic as a member of Local 137 Operating Engineers Union in Elmsford, NY. He worked in construction for many years and was a volunteer fireman for the Yulan, NY Volunteer Fire Department and the Yulan Rod & Gun Club. He was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church in St. Augustine.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Ruth M. Untener of St. Augustine; daughters Susan Snyder and her husband Craig of Syracuse, NY, Dianne Ronda and her husband Dave of Land O Lakes, FL, Carolyn Lennon of St. Augustine, FL; grandchildren, Ryan Andrew, Kymber and Frank; a brother, George Untener and his wife Linda of Del Ray Beach, FL; sisters Gloria Capuano of Hastings, FL and Mary Santiago of Utica, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass was held on Monday, March 3, at St. Anastasia Catholic Church, with Father Seamus OFlynn and Father Terrence Morgan officiating. Interment followed in San Lorenzo Cemetery in St. Augustine. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Leukemia / Lymphoma Society, North Florida Chapter, 7077 Bonneval Road, Ste. 610, Jacksonville, FL 32216.
