CAS opens house to attract new members

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — As part of its March Madness membership drive, the Catskill Art Society will host an open house from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, featuring teacher demonstrations by Keith Phillips (The Basics of Oil Painting) and Helena Pittman (Creating a Children’s Picture Book & Painting with Watercolor) from the CAS March-April class list, balloons and refreshment. The open house will coincide with the opening of a new exhibition, “Open Eye—Closed Eyes,” by artist Jörg Madlener, with an artist’s talk at 4:00 p.m. and opening reception from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. At 7:00 p.m., there will be a showing of Woody Allen’s “Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about Sex But Were Afraid to Ask” and Peter Cook’s “Bedazzled” as part of the society’s Smiles of a Winter’s Night film series. Admission for films costs $8 for CAS members, $10 for non-members.

The second open house is scheduled for Sunday, March 9 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
