BEATRICE BLOOM

Beatrice Bloom of Delray Beach, FL, formerly of Kiamesha Lake, NY, died Monday, February 4, 2008 with her loving family at her side.

The daughter of the late Charles Kolodny and Rose Berman Kolodny, she was born in Brooklyn, NY.

She was a registered nurse and was, for a time, the nurse at the Concord Resort Hotel in Kiamesha Lake. She was the widow of the late Dr. Bernard Bloom. A family statement reads: “She always put her family first. In a disposable society, she was made of cast iron.”

She is survived by her sons, Charles Bloom and his wife Wendy of Palm Beach, FL and Joshua Bloom of New York City, NY; and two grandsons.

Graveside funeral services were held February 7, 2008 at the Landfield Avenue Synagogue Cemetery in Monticello, NY with Rabbi Irving Goodman officiating.


ROBERT E. BUSING

Robert E. Busing passed away Thursday, February 7, 2008, at his home in Clinton Corners, NY. He was 70.

Born November 22, 1937 in the Town of Delaware, Robert was the son of LeRoy Adolph and Josephine Elizabeth (Voss) Busing. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1962 and was stationed on the USS Lake Champlain. For 32 years he was a metal shop and tech teacher at Van Wyck Junior High School in the Wappingers Central School District.

He is survived at home by his wife Agnes M. (Cruikshank) Busing whom he married August 8, 1995. Other survivors include two daughters, Hillary Schneck of Poughkeepsie and Lauren Busing of Larchmont; three step-children, Diana Mackay and husband, Steve Wichowsky, of Lagrangeville, George W. Mackey Jr. of Hyde Park and Janis A. Mackey of New York City; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and several cousins.

A memorial service was celebrated on Monday, February 11 at the Bangall United Methodist Church in Bangall, NY, with Rev. Ted Norelius officiating, assisted by Greg Higgins.

CATHY ANN DAVIS

Cathy Ann Davis of Monticello, NY died at her home on Sunday February 3, 2008. She was 63.

Cathy was born in Honesdale, PA on July 1, 1944 to the late Earl and Zelda Martin Sporer.

She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Walter Davis, at home; three sons, Dale Sheeley Jr. and wife Carrie Sue of Atlanta, GA, Arnold Sheeley and fiancée Dayna Kearns of Kiamesha Lake, NY and Daniel Sheeley of Rock Hill, NY; one daughter, Dawn Marie North of Rock Hill; one brother, Edward Sporer; and five grandchildren.

There will be no services. Cremation was held at Cedar Hill Crematory in Newburgh.


ANNA M. HOEHNE

Anna M. Hoehne of Shohola, PA, a homemaker and lifelong area resident, died Thursday, February 14, 2008 at VNA Hospice House in East Stroudsburg, PA. She was 87.

The daughter of the late John and Anna Marie Clemson Selgrath, she was born September 27, 1920 in Mahony City, PA. She was married to the late Arthur H. Hoehne.

She was a member of the St. Jacobi Lutheran Church, Shohola, PA and a charter member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Lackawaxen. She was also an avid bowler. A family statement read, “Anna was a great baker. She loved to knit and crochet. Anna loved playing cards in a card club. She loved traveling to Canada to fish with her husband. She also loved her grandchildren and great children and was a big part of their lives. She will be greatly missed.”

Survivors include daughter Joan Bundy and husband Vyle of Andover, NY; son Arthur T. and wife Ann of Gilbert PA; two sisters, Mary King and Jacqueline Herrity, both of Mahony City; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur H. Hoehne; her brother, Vincent Selgrath; and sisters Florene Pacenta and Saiah Crellin.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 18 at the Gray-Rasmussen Funeral Home in Barryville, NY with the Rev. Mary Owens officiating.

Burial will take place at Lackawaxen Cemetery, Lackawaxen PA.

JAMES A. MCDONNELL

James A. McDonnell of Callicoon, NY, a retired senior frame man for New York Telephone Company and area resident since 1988, died Thursday, February 14, 2008 at Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY. He was 89.

The son of the late Patrick and Margaret Egan McDonnell, he was born April 29, 1918 in Wiggin, England. He was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America, the Mailmen’s Association, the Holy Cross Church in Callicoon and the Pioneer Total Abstinence Association.

Survivors include his wife, Delia Moran McDonnell, at home; two sons, Patrick McDonnell and wife Laura and Martin McDonnell; one daughter, Mary Flaherty and husband James; and grandchildren Maureen and Brendan McDonnell, Shane, Brent, Clay, English, Cameron and Anya Flaherty.

A funeral mass was celebrated on Tuesday, February 19 at Holy Cross Church, Callicoon. Ignatius Smith OFM officiated. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Obernburg, NY.

SHANNON PETROVICK

Shannon Petrovick of Milanville, PA, a cabinetmaker, carpenter, and longtime area resident, died Sunday, February 10, 2008 at home. He was 44.

The son of the late Anthony Petrovick and Candace Gustafson Petrovick, he was born in Pequannock, NJ.

A family statement read, “Shannon was a very talented woodworker and took great pride in his work. He took excellent care of his mother, especially after losing his father. Rocky DeGori was a great friend to Shannon. Shannon will greatly be missed.”

Survivors include his mother, Candace Petrovick; one brother, Sean Petrovick and his wife Valerie, of Newton, NJ; and two nephews, Thomas and Harrison Petrovick.

Cremation will take place at the Lakewood Crematory, Lake Ariel.

Memorial donations can be made to the local animal shelter of one’s choice.


MARY CATHERINE REDDAN

Mary Catherine Reddan of Shohola, PA, a longtime area resident, died Friday, February 8, 2008 in Valhalla, NY. She was 27.

The daughter of Patrick Joseph Finn and Helen Mary Hraniotis Finn, she was born January 10, 1981 at Elgin AFB, FL.

Survivors include her husband, James Reddan at home; her parents of Montgomery, NY; mother and father-in-law Michael and Ann Reddan of Wallkill, NY; brothers Steven Douglas Dubois and girlfriend Ana Dornelles of Brooklyn, NY, Kevin Joseph Finn of Montgomery; sister Alyson Marie Finn of Montgomery; brother-in-law, Dermot Reddan of Jersey City, NJ; grandparents Edward and Eileen Hess of Myrtle Beach, SC and Dermot and Patricia Finn of Belleville, NJ; aunts and uncles Terry and MaryBeth Hraniotis of Montgomery, James and Christine Saunders of Wake Forest, NC and John and Doris Finn of Middletown, NJ; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; her beloved dog, Buddy, at home, and many close and dear girlfriends.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, February 11 in Holy Name of March Church, Montgomery.

VERA BERNHARDT REILLY

Vera Bernhardt Reilly of Jeffersonville, NY, a retired assistant vice president at The First National Bank of Jeffersonville, died Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at Roscoe Community Nursing Home in Roscoe, NY. She was 92.

The daughter of Chester and Ella McKay, she was born on February 13, 1915 in Stevensville, NY.

She was married to the late Adam Bernhardt and the late Thomas Reilly.

She was a charter member of the Jeffersonville Ambulance Corps and a member of H. Russell Kenyon Post #5808 Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews.

Vera was predeceased by three sisters, Laura Stephenson, Nell Geib and Elizabeth Twining; and two brothers, Chester and Leonard McKay.

There are no calling hours. Interment will be held at the Kenoza Lake Cemetery in the spring.
