Sullivan West girls win county meet of champions; Ellenville boys prevail

LOCH SHELDRAKE, NYThe radiant glow of success continues to follow the Sullivan Wests girls team this season as they added to their recently garnered first-ever Division IV title over rival Tri-Valley with a stunning ascendancy over all contending Sullivan County schools in the annual meet of champions held on February 6.
This season, the Lady Bulldogs posted a 15-0 overall record and were 9-0 in their division.
Although often obscured by the plethora of coverage of basketball, their accomplishments deserve banner headlines.

Gritty Panthers fall to Cornwall

MONTICELLO, NYThe twice-postponed wrestling match between Cornwall and Monticello was well worth the wait, as it featured a number of stellar matches and some remarkable milestones.
By nights end, Cornwall, 15-5 (3-0 Section Nine), had emerged victorious over Monticello 3-3 (2-2 Section Nine) and victory was the 300th recorded by Dragons coach Don Blaine, making him the first coach in Section Nine history to reach that storied plateau.

Happy berth day

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NYBasketball brings months of grueling practices, late-night bus rides, fatigue and its fair share of aches and pains. But many athletes who take to the hardwood every winter will tell you its all worth it for the sheer joy of playing the game.
That joy is greatly enhanced by success, measured in terms of improvement both during the season and from the previous year. By that standard, Eldred, which has four more wins than it did a year ago, has much to be proud of, especially for a young team with much to learn.
