Dramatic rendering of T.S. Elliot’s meditations on time and reality is this month’s Salon Session

HIGHLAND LAKE, NY — Poet T.S. Elliot’s “Four Quartets” will be the focal point of this month’s Salon Session in NACL theatre’s intimate lounge, scheduled for Friday, February 15 at 7:30 p.m.

As they did last year for Dylan Thomas’ dense play “Under Milkwood,” members of the Upper Delaware Writers Collective will bring Elliot’s complex verbal meditations to vivid life. Matching the poem’s structure, quartets of four readers will present each of the four parts of the poem, which are named for places significant to Elliot’s life. The evening will open with a presentation of three poems from Elliot’s “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats,” also the basis for the popular and long-running Broadway production of “Cats.”

“In my end is my beginning.” So wrote T.S. Elliot in what some have called his “farewell to poetry,” “The Four Quartets.” Musical, evocative, thought-provoking and surprisingly contemporary, “The Four Quartets” is the culminating work of this master of English verse.

The Upper Delaware Writers Collective, based in Narrowsburg, was founded in 1992 for the purpose of promoting the literary arts in the region. It offers workshops, classes, readings and publications. For more information visit www.upperdelawarewriterscollective.com.

Salon Sessions is an eclectic monthly series that features an array of artists and thinkers in our community. Salon Sessions takes place once a month at 110 Highland Lake Road. Admission costs $5 at the door, and is free for NACL members.
