A multimedia transformation for CAS in February

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — During February, the Catskill Art Society (CAS) will present a month-long exhibition and two Artist Happenings featuring Livingston Manor artist Glenn Church.

For the month, the gallery will host “Metaphors for the Void,” a nighttime video installation. The exhibit will be on view seven days a week between the hours of 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. in the windows of Gallery Two at the CAS Arts Center, 48 Main Street. Resembling early cinema and aged film, this continuously looped sequence evokes eerie environments that weave together a rich tapestry of dreams and awakening, anxious landscapes and the psychology of ruin.

The Artist Happenings are scheduled for Saturday, February 16 and March 1 at 8:00 p.m. At these events, a multimedia environment will transform Gallery Two, with live musical accompaniment by Church. A question and answer period will follow. The suggested donation for admission is $5; no reservations are required.

Church completed a BA in art, design, media, and film at the University of Winchester (United Kingdom) from 1996-2000, with a special concentration in mixed media interaction through the use of sculpture and early experiments with sound and form and their joint participation. These experiments culminated in a further BA in multimedia at the University of Brighton (United Kingdom) from 2003-2006. He has also studied for an MA in 18th Century Studies, at the University of York (United Kingdom) specializing in the work and life of the artist William Blake. In addition, Glenn has worked in the fields of graphic design and sound and art therapy, in which he instructed special needs adults and children. In September 2006 he moved from the southeast of England to New York, where he currently resides with his wife in Livingston Manor.

CAS is a non-profit cultivating public interest, participation and enjoyment of the arts. Through its multi-arts center, CAS explores contemporary art practices and facilitates creative and professional development for established and emerging artists.
