Just in time for Super Tuesday . . .
LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY The Catskill Arts Societys Smiles of a Winter Night film series on Saturday, February 2 will feature 1999s Election, starring Matthew Broderick and Reese Witherspoon, as part of its double feature. The film, with screenplay by Alexander Payne and Jim Taylor, will sound some familiar notes to those who have been following this years primary season: dirty tricks, backroom deals, betrayal of trust and outright fraudall in a high school election.
Also featured will be the Marx Brothers Duck Soup (1933), in which Groucho Marx leads tiny Fredonia into depression, war and chaos. The screenplay is by Bert Kalmar, Harry Ruby, Arthur Sheekman and Nat Perrin.
The show starts at 7:00 p.m. at the Catskill Arts Society at 48 Main Street. Tickets, which cost $8 for CAS members and $10 for non-members, can be purchased at CAS or Hamish & Henry Booksellers.
