Among the events featured at this weekend’s Livingston Manor Rotary Ice Carnival in Livingston Manor, NY will be ice skating races for all age groups, to be held on Sunday, January 27 at 2:00 p.m. in Rotary Park.

Ice Carnival set to glide into Manor

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY—The 49th Annual Livingston Manor Rotary Ice Carnival will be held on Saturday, January 26 and Sunday, January 27.

Saturday will feature a snow sculpture contest in Rotary Park on Pleasant Street at 10:00 a.m., with the theme “Through the Decades.” Livingston Manor Central School (LMCS) classes in grades nine through 12 and community organizations will participate. Hot chocolate will be provided for participating students and advisors. Scultpures will be judged at 3:00 p.m.

The Ice Carnival Dance will be held from 6:45 to 9:45 p.m. at the LMCS gym, and at 9:15 p.m. the 2008 Ice Carnival King and Queen will be crowned by 2007 King Brandon Rubik and 2007 Queen Kirsten Scott. A donation of $6 is requested.

A February love affair

PORT JERVIS, NY—Just in time for Valentine’s Day, an exhibit titled “In Love with Art,” featuring pastel and oil paintings by Joan Kehlenbeck, will open at Café Roxanna, 79 Pike Street, on Saturday, February 2, with a reception from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Kehlenbeck is president of River Valley Artists Guild. For this exhibit, works that feature local historic sites and romantic Victorian ladies have been selected.

Giuffrida show opens at Alliance Gallery

NARROWSBURG, NY—An exhibition of paintings by Mauro Giuffrida will open at the Alliance Gallery at 37 Main Street on Saturday, January 26, with an artist’s reception from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The exhibit will be on view through February 16.
