Students to portray their favorite species for EagleFest contest
NARROWSBURG, NY The seventh annual EagleFest, scheduled for Saturday, January 19, will feature wildlife artwork created by students in the Upper Delaware River Valley for the fourth year. The contest is open to Sullivan West Central School District students grades K through two. According to John DiGiorgio, one of the festival organizers, We are hoping to encourage our youth to become aware, involved and proud of the diverse wildlife and environment we have in our area.
This years Student EagleFest Art Poster Contest is being sponsored by The First National Bank of Jeffersonville. According to Rebecca Green, Sullivan West elementary principal, there will be an estimated 270 students in grades participating in the contest. The posters are of heavy 8 ½-inch by 11-inch white construction paper, and were completed during school time. This years theme is My favorite wildlife species.
The winners will be chosen on Saturday, January 12. Bob Lizza, this years featured artist, and Wanda Gangel and Linda Slocum, former EagleFest featured artists, will be the judges. The winning posters will be on display during EagleFest in the school and afterwards in several of The First National Bank of Jeffersonville branches, including Narrowsburg and Jeffersonville, following EagleFest.
Prizes will be awarded by John DiGiorgio, Rebecca Green and Barbara Hahl during the opening ceremony at Eagle-Fest. First prize is a $300 Savings Bond, second prize is a $200 savings bond and third prize is a $100 savings bond. There will be three runners-up awarded $50 savings bonds.
