Han Ho open house provides free intro to Tae Kwan Do

MINISINK, NY — Grandmaster Sung Yoon, instructor Mike Barnard and students of the Minisink Han Ho Martial Arts School will be hosts for a family open house on Saturday, January 26 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 2376 Route 6, right next to the Minisink schools. The free event kicks off with an introductory Tae Kwan Do class from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, followed by healthy snacks and refreshments from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. Instructors from the school will be in attendance to answer any questions about martial arts.

“Mastery of the martial arts is nothing if not a quest to become a better person and eventually make a better world,” according to Grandmaster Yoon. “In order to achieve this, one must follow the three basic principles and focus on the fact that the training points bear on the essentials in learning techniques, as well as the ingredients of character.”

The open house is about educating those interested in the Korean martial arts and the ground principles that define it: respect, confidence and discipline. The instructors will teach a class, complete with different Tae Kwan Do techniques and information about its principles and philosophies.

Tae Kwan Do is a Korean unarmed martial art. It is not only a means of kicking and punching, but also a way of life. The main goal of the Tae Kwan Do practition-er is to achieve total mind and body control through training.

Han Ho Martial Arts also offers training in Tang Soo Do, Hapkido, Haedong Kumdo and Ssang Jul Gon. It also has a location in Milford, PA and plans to open one soon in Dingmans Ferry.

The introductory class is geared toward the entire family. Ages four and up are encouraged to participate. No shoes or socks are permitted in the Dojang (the studio) and loose fitting clothes such as sweat pants and tee-shirts are appropriate attire.
