River Reporter auction raises over $1,300 for local charities

NARROWSBURG, NY — Artworks featured in The River Reporter’s Inspirations of the Season exhibit were auctioned for just over $1,300, all of which will go directly to local charities.

The exhibit started last Thanksgiving, and the deadline for bids was Friday, January 4. Each artwork was featured on the front page of the newspaper’s special holiday section, Celebrations, and was then put on exhibit at Narrowsburg Roasters on Main Street. Each of the six artists designated a local charity to receive the proceeds from the sale of his or her work.

Amy Long’s “When Winter Moves on Hooves” netted $500 for the Dessin Animal Shelter in Honesdale, PA. Drew Chapman was the winning bidder. James McGinley’s “Winter in Mileses, PA” brought in $450 from Mary Sue Price, with proceeds going to the Sullivan County SPCA. Cecilia Coacci was the successful bidder for David Soete’s “Holiday Spirit;” the proceeds of $150 will go to the Delaware Highlands Conservancy.

Helena Clare Pittman’s “Two Figures in Blue” sold for $100 to Donna Braunstein, benefiting Liberty Free Theatre and WJFF Radio Catskill. Earthgirl Pottery’s “Holiday Pear” went to Debbie Yeager for $55, to benefit Catskill Mountainkeeper. And Ines Cramer purchased Mary Kapusinsky’s “Peace Dove.” Kapusinsky designated Church of the Holy Name of Port Jervis as the beneficiary of the $50 proceeds.
