Wayne Memorial opens new rehab center

Mall location offers convenience and shopping opportunities

By TOM KANE

INDIAN ORCHARD, PA - In an effort to fulfill the community’s medical needs, Wayne Memorial Hospital has opened another rehabilitation center. This one is next door to Kmart in the Route 6 Plaza.

“We will offer out-patient services, such as rehabilitation services, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and a lab for people needing blood work,” said David Hoff, executive director of the hospital, at a news conference on December 14. The site opened earlier in November.

What is especially attractive is that the lab is located in the very busy mall where it’s easy to park and can accommodate driving partners, who can shop while they wait for the therapy to end, Hoff said.

New equipment was demonstrated, and it was shown how therapy can help people regain their independence after an injury or illness or to maintain a wellness program.

Wayne Memorial also offers rehabilitation services in Milford and at the Stourbridge Complex in Honesdale, as well as in-patient rehabilitation services at Wayne Woodlands Manor in Waymart and with the Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network at the hospital.

The hospital’s laboratory services provide blood-draw services at eight locations throughout Wayne and Pike counties.

Service hours for rehab are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Lab hours are Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
