JASON B. BROWN
Jason B. Brown of Cuddebackville, NY, a lifetime resident of the area, died Monday, November 26, 2007 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, NY. He was 37.
He was born November 12, 1970 in Middletown, NY, the son of Shirley Hendershot Brown and the late James B. Brown. He was formerly employed by Pepsi Cola of Newburgh, NY. A family statement reads: Jason lived every day for his family and his children. An outdoors person, he loved life, hunting and especially rafting on the Delaware River.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Shunoski Brown, at home; two daughters: Amanda Brown and Jaylynn Brown, both at home; mother Shirley Brown of Port Jervis; two brothers, Larry Brown and his wife, Colleen, of Circleville, NY and Peter Brown and his wife, Lisa, of Hewitt, TX; sister Laura McKee and her husband, Davis, of Micco, FL; sister-in-law Elizabeth Liz Brown of Sparrowbush, NY; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Walter Jim Brown and Mark Brown and his wife, Ann.
Funeral services took place on Thursday, November 29, at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, Port Jervis, with the Rev. Joseph Iannone officiating. Burial was made at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush.
BRUCE RICHARD MOORE
Bruce Richard Moore died Thursday, November 29, 2007 at the Orange Regional Medical Center, Arden Hill campus, in Goshen, NY. He was 70.
The son of the late Clarence Moore and Sara Jenkins Moore, he was born July 9, 1937 in Middletown, NY.
He was a retired lineman for Orange and Rockland Utilities in Middletown. A former scoutmaster in the area, Bruce was a member of the Community Church of Wurtsboro, a past-president of the Middletown Pistol and Rifle Club and a former vice-president of Land and Lakes for the Wolf Lake Association. He was also active in the IBEW Union and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sally M. Reutzel Moore at home; three sons, Henry Moore and his wife Cherie of Woodbourne, NY, Paul Moore of Pine Bush, NY and Peter Moore and his wife Jennifer of Westbrookville, NY; a daughter, Kim Fulton and her husband David of Kenoza Lake, NY; 11 grandchildren, Joshua, Sarah, Matthew, Andrew, Christopher, Jessie, Emily, Jason, Kristina, David and Matt; a great- granddaughter, Amber; two sisters, Karen Handford and her husband Edward of Wurtsboro, NY and Donna Elia of Middletown; two sisters-in-law, Fay Roberts and her husband William and Jill Gillen and her husband Clinton, all of Middletown; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Starr Moore and Wayne Moore.
Funeral services were held on Monday, December 3 at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home in Wurtsboro with the Rev. Scott Ramsey officiating. Burial was made in the Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery, Bloomingburg, NY.

JOHN W. OLENICK
John W. Olenick, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on Wednesday November 28, 2007 at Kindred, St. Claires Hospital, Dover, NJ. He was 83 years old.
He was born August 13, 1924 in Port Jervis, NY, the son of the late Andrew and Elizabeth Hendrick Olenick. He married Julia Ciccone Olenick on October 23, 1948.
A life-long resident of the area, John was a retired sprinkler fitter with Local 696 Sprinkler Fitters Union, Millburn, NJ. He was a member of St. Marys R.C. Church, Port Jervis. John was a veteran of WW II, where he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a life member and past commander of Roosa-Fleming V.F.W. Post # 161 in Port Jervis, a life member of Tri-State Hose Co. #6, Port Jervis Fire Department and was former Grand Marshall of the Annual Firemans Parade. He was a member of the Port Jervis Lodge Of Elks #645 B.P.O.E. and a member and founder of Rattler Ridge Sportsman Club, Cuddebackville, NY. He served the City of Port Jervis as councilman, fourth ward, for 18 years, serving on numerous committees.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Julia Ciccone Olenick, at home; three sons: John A. Olenick and his wife, Loretta, of Sparrowbush, NY, Nicholas Olenick and his wife, Kathleen, of Montague, NJ and Anthony A. Olenick and his wife, Tammy, of Port Jervis; two daughters, Dora Hankins and her husband, John, of Port Jervis and Kathy Aumick and her husband, Dean, of Port Jervis; one brother, Nicholas P. Olenick and his wife, Sheila, of Port Jervis; 12 grandchildren, John, Brian, Kyle, Megan, Ashley, Kaleigh, Shane, Hunter, Krista, Andrew, Alexander and Andrew; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
His brother Paul Olenick and his sister Julia Ceresa predeceased him.
Father Raj conducted the vigil wake service on Friday, November 30 at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home. Roosa-Fleming VFW Post conducted funeral services at the funeral home. The Port Jervis Fire Department conducted services on Friday evening. Burial was made at St. Marys Cemetery in Port Jervis with military honors.

ELWIN C. SHORTY OSTRANDER SR
Elwin C. Shorty Ostrander Sr., formerly of Honesdale, PA died Saturday, December 1, 2007 at Mallard Meadows in Waymart, PA. He was 79.
Born December 1, 1928 in Boyds Mills, PA, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Elizabeth Young Ostrander. Elwin was the owner and operator of Snows Service Station, Main Street, Honesdale, until becoming disabled. He was an avid hunter and a member of the Boyds Mills Hunting Club. He took pride in sponsoring the local 4-H by purchasing pigs and cows at the fair.
He is survived by a son, Elwin Ostrander Jr. of Boyds Mills; daughters Sandra Wulff and husband William of White Mills, PA and Sheri Haney of Waymart; brothers George and wife Betty of Haskell, NJ, Walter and wife Jean of Beach Lake, PA and Larry and wife Ruth of Gillett, PA; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Eva Ostrander; and a sister, Grace Tallman.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main Street, Honesdale, with Rev. Jean Blackie officiating. Interment will follow in Calkins Union Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

CLARA A. TREMPER
Clara A. Tremper, a homemaker and lifetime resident of the area, died Saturday, December 1, 2007 in Liberty, NY. She was 92.
Clara was born April 26, 1915 to the late Elicher and Lillian Barnhart Lacey in Livingston Manor, NY. She was the widow of Arnold T. Tremper, Sr.
Clara was a member of the Jeffersonville Senior Citizens.
She is survived by one daughter, Etel Miller of Youngsville, NY; one son, Arnold Tremper Jr. of Callicoon, NY; one brother, Harold Lacey of Monticello, NY; three sisters, Eva Terwilliger of Livingston Manor, Margaret Smith and Eda Kanoff of Middletown, NY; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, George Tremper; two brothers, Clifford and George Lacey, and three sisters, May Vanaker, Gladys Martin and Lillian Lacey.
Services were held Tuesday, December 4, at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Jeffersonville, NY. Burial was made in Liberty Cemetery.
