Gift of the Magi reading, and locks given for love
WAYMART, PA The Salvation Army Ladore Conference Center at 398 South Street will host a reading of O. Henrys Gift of the Magi at 4:00 p.m. At the same time, Laurie Conner, senior program coordinator, will have her hair cut off and donated to the Locks of Love program, echoing one of the protagonists in the story, who cuts off her hair for love. Locks of Love is a non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under the age of 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. 570/488 6129.
Greeting card workshop at the library

Christmas in New York
ROSCOE, NY The Roscoe Community Theatre Group will present its annual Christmas show, Christmas in New York, at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium of Roscoe Central School. Hawleys Winterfest opens

Art alliance holds holiday show and sale
WURTSBORO, NY The Wurtsboro Art Alliance will open its December Show at its gallery located at 73 Sullivan Street with an opening reception from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Featured will be works in a variety of mediums by gallery members. Grey Towers holds holiday open house
MILFORD, PA Grey Towers National Historic Landmark will kick off a season of holiday open houses from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., with music by the Delaware Valley High School concert choir, luminaries lining the walkway and all three floors decorated for the holiday by the Milford Garden Club. Free. The house will continue to be open for visitors every day through December 30 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at a cost of $3 per person.

Holiday book sale
JEFFERSONVILLE, NY The Western Sullivan Public Library, Jeffersonville Branch, will hold its annual holiday book sale from Saturday, December 8 through Friday, December 14 during regular library hours. Audubon holds holiday tea
MILFORD, PA The Gifford Pinchot Audubon Society will host its annual holiday tea at 4:30 p.m. at Grey Towers National Historic Site. A program on the elk reintroduction program in Pennsylvania is planned. Discussion will focus on conservation of the habitat that is now supporting the new population. Snow date is December 9.

Christmas tea
MILFORD, PA The Good Shepherd Church will host a Christmas Tea on Saturday, December 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The lunch, a 50-year tradition at the church, will consist of fancy tea sandwiches, muffins, scones and tasty desserts. Coffee and, of course, tea will also be served. Prices will be $8.50 for a complete luncheon, $4.50 for children under 10 and $4.50 for beverage and dessert only. This year, in addition to the high tea, there will be a white elephant table, crafts and holiday items for sale as well as baked goods. Holiday blast benefits Toys for Tots

SHOHOLA, PA Pike County Alliance of Bikers Aimed Toward Education, Chapter 41, will hold its annual holiday party/toy drive from 8:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. at Mels Tavern on Route 6. Nutcracker to benefit Humane Society
PORT JERVIS, NY An Afternoon of the Arts, featuring excerpts from The Nutcracker, will benefit the Humane Society of Port Jervis/Deerpark at 3:00 p.m. at Port Jervis High School at 3:00 PM. Dancers, singers and musicians will perform; all proceeds go directly to the Humane Societys shelter. Tickets cost $8 for general admission seating and are available at the door. There will be a dessert table, which has become a popular tradition at the event, at intermission.

Lovelites honors lost loved ones
for the holidays
HONESDALE, PA The Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Lovelites ceremony will be held at 6:30 p.m., accompanied by Christmas carols. The trees in front of the hospital will be lit symbolically to honor or in memory of loved ones. All donors will be listed in a Book of Remembrance in the hospital lobby following the ceremony for all to view during the holiday season. All welcome.
