Liberty has a new place to stroll
Portion of O&W tracks now open to public
LIBERTY, NY LibertyBikeTrail.org, along with affiliated organizations and public volunteers, will host a cleanup of the Rail Trail on Sunday, December 2. This will mark the beginning of public use of the 3.1-mile stretch of former O&W tracks in the Village of Liberty.
The groups long-term goal is to open all sections of the former O&W railroad bed in the Town of Liberty as a public trail, and to connect with the rails-to-trails efforts in neighboring communities to achieve a comprehensive trail network in our region.
The cleanup will start at 10:00 a.m. at the State Street entrance to the Rail Trail. State Street is off of Lake Street in the village; the entrance is near the New York State Gas & Electric Building.
Those interested in volunteering should bring a good pair of gloves and trash bags.
