SOLOMON COHEN
Solomon Cohen of Goshen, NY, died Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at home. He was 77.
The son of the late Isaac and Diamante (Selanikio) Cohen, he was born May 31, 1930 in Astoria, NY. Solomon was employed by M&T Bank in Monroe as an investment specialist. He was a Korean Army War veteran, member of the VFW of Goshen Post 1708 and the American Legion Post 377.
He is survived by his wife, Denise Cohen, at home; four sons, Steven Cohen of Tucson, AZ, Ira Cohen of Buffalo, NY, David Cohen of San Rafael, CA and Adam Cohen of Virginia Beach, VA; a daughter, Diane Peloquin of Tucson; two brothers, Albert Cohen of Astoria, NY and Samuel Cohen of Brookfield, CT; a sister, Rebecca Friedman of White Lake, NY; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Robert Cohen.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, November 15 at 11:30 a.m. at the Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Goshen. Contributions may be made in Solomons name to a charity of ones choice.
FLORENCE C. PETROFSKE
Florence C. Petrofske, formerly of Jersey City, NJ and a short-time resident of the area, died on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at Wolfe Family Home for Adults, Narrowsburg, NY. She was 85.
The daughter of the late Arthur and Edith Giegold Martin, she was born March 4, 1922 in North Bergen, NJ.
Florence was a housewife and was married for 62 years to the late John Petrofske. She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Jersey City.
A family statement reads, Florence was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed life. She was a big part of our lives. She will greatly be missed by all.
She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Simonet and her husband, Jeffrey, of Narrowsburg, and Patricia Petrofske of New Jersey; one son, Michael Petrofske and his wife, Dawn, of Florida; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her husband John, two sons, John and Stephen Petrofske, and six brothers and sisters predeceased Florence.
Funeral services were held Friday, November 16, 2007 at 8 p.m. at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, Narrowsburg, with Pastor Phyllis Haynes officiating. Burial took place on Saturday, November 17 at Cresthaven Cemetery in Clifton, NJ.
DOROTHY STAGL
Dorothy Stagl of Kenoza Lake, NY, a retired head cook at Sullivan County Infirmary and lifetime resident of the area, died Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at home. She was 96.
The daughter of Henry and Rowena Armbrust Klaus, she was born in Kenoza Lake on July 10, 1911.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Jeffersonville, NY and the Order of Eastern Star Revonah Lincoln Chapter, Jeffersonville. Dorothy worked as a cook at Teds Restaurant in Jeffersonville for many years.
Survivors include her two sons, Richard H. Stagl and Albert C. Stagl of Kenoza Lake; her sister, Alberta Schmauss of Hampton, VA.; her grandchildren, Albert John Stagl, Richard Matthew Stagl, Thomas Michael Stagl, Theresa Marie Stagl, Mia Stagl, Peter J. Stagl, Kip Lowitz and Emily Rapp; and two nieces, Roberta Rittenhauser and Karen Nicoletti.
She was predeceased by her husband, Albert Stagl, and her granddaughter, Melinda Joyce Stagl.
Services were held on Friday, November 16, 2007 at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville with the Rev. Lee Andrews officiating. Burial was made in the Kenoza Lake Cemetery in Kenoza Lake.

JAMES DOUBLAS WORZEL
James Douglas Worzel of Fawn Lake Forest, Hawley, PA, died Thursday, November 15, 2007 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, PA. He was 41.
James was born May 26, 1966 in Callicoon, NY and was the son of Minerva (Caccia) Worzel and the late Robert R. Worzel. He was an avid hunter and golfer and a great Jets fan. He enjoyed most outdoor activities and supported his childrens activities. He served in the army, was employed as a corrections officer by the State Correctional Institution in Waymart, PA and had worked at Woodloch Pines in Hawley, PA for more than 20 years.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Karen Lynne (Kensky) Worzel; two daughters, Dana Lynne Worzel and Erin Alyse Worzel; and one son, Ryan James Worzel, all at home; his mother Minerva (Caccia) Worzel; his sister and brother-in-law, Gail and Bill Steuhl of Greeley, PA; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Glenn and Jeff, in 1991.
A funeral service was held November 20, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Hawley United Methodist Church, 315 Church St., Hawley, with Rev. Martin L. Cox, Jr., Pastor officiating. Burial was in German Hill Cemetery in Shohola, PA.
