Holiday farmers markets mourn vendor
Special raffle to benefit family of farmer
killed in auto accident
CALLICOON, NY At the first annual Holiday Farmers Market, to be held in Callicoon on Sunday, December 9, a raffle will be held to benefit the family of Micah Weiss. Weiss, of Lucky Dog Farm, one of the markets regular vendors, died in an automobile accident on September 29. He was 22 years old and leaves behind Alese Joslin, who is expecting their second child this spring, and three-year-old daughter Lonnie.
Organized by Megan Rosado, a member of the Sullivan County Farmers Markets Association and owner of Ziggy Treats, and Jill Wiener, well-known local potter (Earthgirl Pottery) and floral artist, this event has received wide-spread support from friends and customers who enjoyed knowing Micah, Alese and Lonnie during the time they spent with Richard and Holly Giles of Lucky Dog Certified Organic Farm in their stand at the Callicoon market.
People have been unbelievably generous, said Rosado. Lavish gift baskets and items from fishing supplies, baking lessons, antiques, works of art, Christmas decorations and gourmet foods will be on the table for people to win. Tickets are only $1.00, less in quantity.
Chances are available at the Callicoon Farmers Market, held rain or shine every Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. until December 2 at Callicoon Creek Park, and at the Holiday Farmers Markets held on Saturday, December 8 in Liberty from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and on Sunday, December 9 in Callicoon from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Drawings will take place at the Callicoon Holiday Market; people need not be present to win.
