Shelter holiday adoption campaign joins with Iams Home 4 the Holidays
HONESDALE, PA The Dessin Animal Shelter is in search of a few good owners for its four-legged residents. Dessin Animal Shelter has joined efforts with 2,600 shelters around the world to host the eighth annual Iams Home 4 the Holidays adoption campaign, organized by Iams and Helen Woodward Animal Center. This campaign began on November 5 and will extend through Thursday, January 3.
The shelter will kick off the adoption event with the Happy Catsgiving cat adoption promotion, which will last till the end of the year. As a way of saying thanks for giving a cat a new home, all who adopt a feline friend have the option of adopting a second adult feline for free.
Other special activities will be announced throughout the upcoming holiday season to celebrate Iams Home 4 the Holidays 2007.
The first Home 4 the Holidays initiative in 1999 was a tremendous success, said Susan Frisch, shelter manager. Each year since then has seen the event grow and the number of animals adopted increase. In 2006, 379,000 adoptions took place. Wouldnt it be a wonderful thing if every single homeless animal in our care had a loving home for the holidays this year? The Dessin staff is hoping to find good adoptive homes for all our shelter residents by the New Year.
All of the pets awaiting adoption at Dessin are started on a vaccination and parasite control program, as well as spayed/neutered and microchipped. All pets adopted during Iams Home 4 the Holidays 2007 will go home with an Iams Starter Kit, which includes tips to help the new parent and furry friend get off on the right paw as well as an informative DVD sponsored by Animal Planet and Petfinder.com. There are other give-away items as well, depending on the pet adopted.
