ERIC ALFRED NEUMANN
Eric Alfred Neumann, a technician for Combined Energy Services in Monticello, NY, died Saturday, November 10, 2007 at his home in Liberty, NY. He was 59.
The son of the late Eric H. Neumann and Esther Buynar Bass Neumann, he was born April 29, 1948 in San Diego, CA. Eric was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Vietnam from 1968-1969, with Company C 2nd Battalion 5th Cavalry, First Air Cavalry where he earned three Purple Hearts, the Bronze Star and the Air Medal. He was also a member of the 5th U.S. Cavalry Association, the Disabled American Veterans and a life member of the Clarence Hoyt VFW Post in Liberty.
A family statement reads, All gave some. Eric gave all.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Ann Kreiter Neumann, at home; two daughters, Geri Neumann and husband Craig Duffy of Liberty, and Barbi Neumann-Marty and her husband Daniel, of Parksville NY; his grandchildren, Ellen Rose and Erin Duffy of Liberty and Dianna and Sofia Marty of Parksville; a sister, Pamela Neumann Murphy and husband Thomas of Callicoon, NY; an aunt, Estelle Buynar of Nyack, NY; an uncle, Alfred Buynar of Virginia; his mother-in-law, Alice Dillon Kreiter; sisters-in-law Margaret Kreiter Lindstadt and Kathleen Kreiter; and a brother-in-law, Peter Kreiter, all of Monticello; nephews Kevin Murphy, Edward Lindstadt, Keith Restrepo and Kyle Kreiter; nieces Kim Murphy and Suzanne Lindstadt; his beloved pet, Boober, at home; and his brothers of the C 2/5 and the Obernburg Militia.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Burial with military honors followed at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.
CLARENCE F. REICHMAN
Clarence F. Rich Reichman, a longtime resident of Tennanah Lake/Roscoe, NY and a retired NYPD sergeant with the Emergency Services Division, died on Monday, November 5, 2007 in Pompton Plains, NJ. He was 83.
Born to the late Frederick and Margaret Maus Reichmann, he was born on May 8, 1924 in Acidalia, NY, and was married to Delores Pat Wheeler Reichman.
He was a decorated WWII Army Air Force Radio Operator in the Troop Carrier Group; he participated in the D-Day invasion and witnessed the signing of the peace treaty ending the war in Europe. After the war, he joined the NYPD where he served for 32 years, rising to the rank of sergeant in the elite Emergency Services Division. He was a recipient of the Medal of Valor from the NYPD for his service.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores Pat Reichman, at home; two daughters, Linda Gilmart and her husband Brian and Cathie Lockridge and her husband Keith; his grandchildren, Doreen Waldbieser and her husband Michael, David Gilmartin and his wife Tammy, Robert Pang and his wife Janet and Laura Hancock and her husband Erik; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Rhinebeck and Beatrice Fortunato and her husband Frank; and two cousins, Gertrude Wright and Chape Peake.
A funeral mass was held on Friday, November 9 at St. Marys Church in Obernburg, NY with Father Gus Richardson officiating. Burial was in St. Marys Cemetery, Obernburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Cedar Crest Benevolent Care Fund, 1 Cedar Crest Court, Pompton Plains, NJ 07444.
MARY ANN DICKEY WASYLYK
Mary Ann Dickey Wasylyk, 82, of Honesdale, PA, died November 8, 2007 at Bethany Village. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Wasylyk, who died on July 14, 1994. The couple married June 27, 1942.
Born February 25, 1925 in Handhive of the Slovak Republic, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary Bednar Dickey. A housewife and mother, Mary, along with her husband, was the owner and proprietor of Wasylyks Bar on Main Street in Honesdale for 20 years. Mary was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish and its Altar and Rosary Society.
She is survived by her seven sons, Joseph and wife Debbie of Narrowsburg, NY, John and wife Katie of Florida, Robert and wife Maribeth of Newfoundland, PA, James and wife Gail of Greentown, PA, Thomas and wife Mary of Forest City, PA, Stephen and wife Sally of Prompton, PA and David and wife Rebecca of Sweet Valley, PA; her two daughters, Debra Mesko and husband Gary of Honesdale and Monica Perlantti and husband Robert of Olyphant, PA; brothers George, Pete and Joe Dickey; sisters Helen Shepard and Deloris Janowicz; 30 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Also preceding her in death is her son, Michael, and brothers John and Andy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church in Honesdale. Interment will follow in St. Marys Cemetery. Friends may visit the Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale, PA on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
