A river idyll

MILFORD, PA — Kendall Baird, foreground, takes nature notes as Hallie McLain, Grace Calderon and Emma McDonough enjoy their walk along the river with the Delaware Valley Elementary School’s Fifth and Sixth Grade Walking Club. The club, led by teacher Cindy Roa, usually walks along the Delaware River paths behind the school. It’s an opportunity for students to get exercise, appreciate their natural surroundings and learn the simple pleasures of activities like skipping rocks, a specialty of sixth-grader Anna Wingard.
