Local author to read for literacy

MONTICELLO, NY — On Thursday, November 29 at 7:00 p.m., the Sullivan Reading Council and Literacy Volunteers of Sullivan County are hosting a wine and cheese party. Local author Alan Lewis will be featured, reading from “I Grew Up On A Farm,” an autobiographical sketch of Lewis’ early life on a working farm in Middletown, NY during the l950s.

Lewis brings back memories of a time gone by, before Nintendo, instant messaging and microwave ovens. The book, illustrated by local artist Bob Fletcher with black and white photographs expanded to full color drawings, is designed for readers four through eight but has an appeal for all ages.

The reading will be held at The Literacy Center, 63 North Street. The cost is $5 per person. The registration deadline is November 26.
