New website helps provide entertainment for vets in rehabilitation

REGION — A new website, DVDs4VETs.org, went live on Tuesday, November 6. Since November 2006, DVDs4VETs has been providing a local effort to collect and deliver donated DVDs to veterans’ hospitals and centers in the New York area. The idea to start DVDs4Vets came about on Veteran’s Day 2006, in response to reports of severely wounded soldiers returning home from Iraq, many of them unable to obtain some of the basic entertainment most civilians take for granted while they are undergoing rehabilitation.

More than 25,000 DVDs have been donated in the past year, and with the website going live that number is expected to increase substantially.
