Triad blends contemporary dance with traditional roots

NARROWSBURG, NY — Triad Dance Ensemble will present an evening of modern dance works at the Tusten Theatre at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 20. Choreographers Karen MacIntyre, Loretta Thomas, Daria Miano and Roger Duson will be joined by dancer Kristen Borstelmann and poet Cass Collins as they present “Dividing Time,” a series of new works that reflect the current phenomenon of multi-tasking in the 21st century. Each piece in the first half of the performance will have divided focus as a common thread.

After intermission, the ensemble will perform “Isadora Duncan: A Living History.” These timeless dances, choreographed by the mother of modern dance, were first performed in the early 1900s. They highlight the beauty, grace and spirit of Duncan’s work, and translate well onto the intimate setting of the Tusten stage.

Triad received funding from the New York State Council on the Arts Re-grant Program for creation of new works, and a grant from Sullivan County Arts and Heritage for re-staging and production for the Duncan living history portion of the performance. Both grants were administered through the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance and contributed to production of this performance.

Tickets cost $15 for general admission, $10 for seniors and $5 for students.

Other events in Tusten Theatre’s fall season will include a performance by pianist/composer Bill Mays playing his own music on Saturday, November 10 and the Delaware Valley Chamber Orchestra performing pieces by local composers on Saturday, November 17.
