Registration now open for gingerbread house competition
LIBERTY, NY The Liberty Museum & Arts Center will host its first Gingerbread House Competition and Exhibit to be held on Saturday, December 1 at the museum. Participants of all ages are invited to construct and enter original gingerbread structures, real or imaginary, lifelike or fantastic. The only requirement is that all the components must consist of edible materials.
Individuals and groups may enter in four divisions. High school seniors and older may enter as adult professional or adult non-professional. Younger persons may enter in the Youth I division, for sixth through 11th grade, or the Youth II division, for fifth grade and younger. Awards will be given in each division.
Ive been making gingerbread houses for the past several years and am always amazed at the variety and architectural creativity that each contest inspires, said Naomi Frumess, organizer of the exhibit. Not only do you get to be the architect but you are also the general contractor and finish carpenter. It is always great fun.
Judging will be held on December 1, and all the edible edifices will be displayed during the holiday season in storefront windows at the museum and participating merchants and organizations throughout the village of Liberty.
Pre-registration is required by Monday, November 5, as space for display is limited.
