All aboard for autumn

HONESDALE, PA — The Stourbridge Line will present three themed rail excursions this fall.

Fall Foliage train rides will give passengers the opportunity to view the glory of fall foliage in the Poconos and its reflections in the Lackawaxen River. Rides will depart from the Wayne County Visitor Center in historic Honesdale at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 13 and 20 and Sunday, October 14. Reservations are required for this ride, which includes a one-and-a-half-hour stopover in the Victorian village of Hawley.

Tickets for the Fall Foliage ride cost $16 for adults, $15 for seniors, and $11 for children 12 and under. Children ages two and under are free if lap held.

A new feature aboard the Stourbridge Line this year is the Grape Express. This is on Sunday, October 21 for adults age 21 and over, and departs from Honesdale at 1:00 p.m. The scenic ride will take passengers to Hawley, where the folks at the historic Falls Port Inn and Steakhouse will hold a wine-tasting event. The cost for three-and-a-half-hour trip is $45 per person.

Passengers are invited to wear their Halloween finest for the annual Halloween Fun excursion on Saturday, October 27, complete with ghosts, goblins and treats. The train departs the Wayne County Visitor Center in Honesdale at 1:00 p.m. Reservations are required for this two-hour trip. Tickets cost $16 for adults and $13 for children 12 and under.
