ALEXANDER PAUL BLASE
Alexander Paul Blase of South Canaan, PA and Brooklyn, NY died on September 15, 2007. He was 71.
He was born on January 6, 1936 in Brooklyn.
Alexander was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He is survived by his wife, Judith; his daughter, Shari of New Jersey; his sons, Steven of Narrowsburg and Edward of Virginia; and his grandchildren, Lauren and Christopher.
Interment was held on September 18, 2007.
JOHN F. BRUNING
John F. Bruning of Wurtsboro Hills, NY died Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at his home. He was 55.
The son of the late Christian Bruning and Annie Lybolt Bruning, he was born December 6, 1951 in Middletown, NY.
A veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves, John was a founder and former president of the Sullivan County Archers Association, a member of the New York State Bow Hunters Association, the Sullivan County Conservation Club and the Rock Hill Church of the Nazarene.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Bruning at home; his mother, Annie Bruning of Sun City Center, FL; three sons, John Bruning and fiancée Kathy Lapointe of Middletown, Dustin Bruning of San Diego, CA and Daniel Bruning of Wurtsboro, NY; a daughter, Cambridge Deegan and husband Colby of Pine Bush, NY; two brothers, Thomas Bruning of Glen Spey, NY and Christian Bruning of Sun City Center; three sisters, Cheryl Bertholf of Apollo Beach, FL, Lyn Tyler of Highland Lake, NY and Victoria Tawney of Riverview, FL; two granddaughters; and several nieces, nephews and friends, including his other brothers, Jimmy, Elmo, Ed and Richie.
Funeral services were held on Friday, September 14, 2007 at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, Wurtsboro. The Rev. Roy Shaffer officiated.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
BRUNO CASSOL
Bruno Cassol, a resident of Narrowsburg, NY since 1953, died Monday August 27, 2007 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, PA. He was 92.
The son of the late Louis and Maria Cassol, he was born in McKeesport, PA on February 13, 1915.
Bruno was a proud Marine veteran of WWII serving in the Pacific Theatre the entire length of the war in places like Guadalcanal, Bougainville and other major battle sites. He received many medals and commendations and attained the rank of Master Sergeant. A retired mechanic with Sullivan Highway Products in Fosterdale, NY, he also owned his own repair shop for many years. He was a member of the Marine Corps League. He enjoyed hunting and fishing his entire life and made numerous trips to Newfoundland moose hunting. On his last trip, Bruno was 81 years old. A family statement reads, his two greatest loves in life were his family and the Marine Corps. He was very proud of his service as a Marine and to his country. He was a kind and generous man to all; we loved him very much and will miss him greatly. He will always live in our hearts.
He is survived by his son, Robert Cassol of Floyd, VA; his two daughters, Carol Thomas and her husband Pete of Fort Valley, VA and Janice ONeill and her husband Michael of Lititz, PA; two brothers, Clyde of Carteret, NJ and Gwedo of Clearwater, FL; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Judy, in 2005.
NAOMI KEESLER GILLOW
Naomi Keesler Gillow of East Stroudsburg, PA died on Thursday, September 6, 2007 at VNA Hospice, East Stroudsburg. She was 91.
The daughter of the late Warner and Clara Martin Keesler, she was born in Manchester Township, PA.
Naomi and her husband were married in Equinunk, PA on October 8, 1934. She worked for the Katz Underwear Factory in Honesdale, PA until retirement.
She is survived by her five daughters, Jennie Wilson of Honolulu, HI, Ellen Stanton and husband Robert of Endicott, NY, Thelma Tyler of Walkill, NY, Lela Buchanan and husband Cecil of East Stroudsburg, and Clara Gillow Clark and husband Stephen Jennings of Damascus, PA; two sons, Daniel Gillow and wife Joanne of Lake Ariel, PA, and John Gillow and wife Karen of Chillicothe, OH; two sisters, June Clark of Newfoundland, PA and Wanita Macey and husband Bob of Vermont; two brothers, Reuben Keesler and wife Eleanor of Equinunk and Leo Keesler and wife Phyllis of Alabama; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 23 years, Lee Gillow in 1957; a brother, Robert Keesler; two sisters, Alice French and Marcella Robbins; and a granddaughter, Lisa Stanton Hoover.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, September 9, 2007 at the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, Honesdale, PA, with the Rev. P. Daniel Hall, of Allentown, officiating. Burial was in Lookout Cemetery.
OLIVE A. MAHER
Olive A. Livvie Maher of Shohola Township, PA died at her home on Saturday, September 15, 2007. She was 76.
The daughter of the late Charles and Olive (MacLeod) Allspach, she was born on October 7, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY.
On October 1, 1949 Livvie married Francis X. Maher. She was predeceased by one son, Daniel.
She is survived by her husband, Francis X. Maher Sr.; six children, Francis Maher Jr., Dale Mazzie, Jill Christ, all of Shohola, Beth Sapan of Hicksville, NY, Lisa VonSalzen of Freeport, NY and Jennifer Ganuncio of Greenville, NY; one sister, Jane-Lee McCabe of Gettysburg, PA; a brother, Charles Ralph Allspach of Goshen, NY; 18 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Resurrection was celebrated on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at Saint Patricks RC Church, Milford, PA. Burial was in the Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY.

EDWARD J. STORMS
Edward J. Storms of Sparrowbush, NY died Monday, September 10, 2007 at home. He was 60.
The son of Percy and Minnie Fountain Storms, he was born November 22, 1946 in Cahoonzie, NY.
Edward married Carol Storms on April 13, 1968 in Vernon, NJ. He worked for 17 years at C & D Battery in Huguenot before his retirement in 2005.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Storms at home; a son, Raymond Storms and wife Susan of Glen Spey, NY; his parents, Percy and Minnie Storms of Sussex, NJ; a sister, Pricilla Gould and husband John of Rio, NY; grandchildren, Justin and Dylan Storms of Glen Spey; two nieces, Denise Hulse of Glen Spey and Michele Fontana of Shohola, PA.
There will be no visitation. Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
LOUIS TRIEBER
Louis Trieber of Beach Lake, PA, a lifelong resident of the area, died on Saturday, September 15, 2007 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, PA. He was 68.
The son of the late John and Ruth Hull Trieber, he was born August 15, 1939 in Port Jervis, NY.
Louis was a retired Navy Vietnam veteran, having served for 30 years. He was a member of the VFW. A family statement read, Louis was a loving and caring brother. He was always there when you needed him.
He is survived by his three sisters, Mary Ann Boutelle and her husband Paul of Barryville, NY, Ruth Clouse and her husband Richard of Lackawaxen, PA and Joan Hallock of Arkansas; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a brother, John.
Friends are invited to call on Thursday, September 20 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Gray-Rasmussen Funeral Home on Route 97 in Barryville, NY. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2007 at 8:00 p.m. at Gray-Rasmussen Funeral Home. Cremation will follow at Lake Region Crematory.

GEORGE S. vOVCHIK
George Stephen Vovchik of Smallwood, NY, a retired vault clerk for Brinks Armored Cars in Brooklyn, NY, died Sunday, September 9, 2007 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, NY. He was 67.
The son of the late Elias Vovchik and Vera Grycho Vovchik, he was born June 27, 1940 in Brooklyn.
George was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam era, and a member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church in White Lake, NY.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Frolio Vovchik, at home; three sisters, Alice Pauzolis and husband Joseph of Staten Island, NY, Veronica Lynch and husband Frank of Centereach, NY, and Marian DeMarco and husband Russ of the state of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Sonny Vovchik; and a sister, Irene Vovchik.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, September 15, 2007 at the Reformed Presbyterian Church, White Lake. The Rev. David Coon officiated. Interment of the cremains will be made in the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty at a later date.

LILLIE WEISS
Lillie Gia Weiss of White Lake, NY, a lifelong Sullivan County resident, died Saturday, September 15, 2007 at her home. She was 74.
The daughter of the late Emmett and Frances Case Dailey, she was born April 14, 1933 in Cochecton Center, NY.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Town of Bethel and a member of the Kauneonga Lake Firemens Auxiliary. She was an Avon representative of 37 years, achieving Honor Society and McConnell Club level.
She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Marvin Nuggie Weiss at home; two sons, Walter Weiss of Douglasville, GA and Randy Weiss Sr. and wife Penni, of Stoutland, MO; two daughters, Debbie Ann Weiss and Laurie Jean Weiss, both of White Lake; three grandsons; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Jeanette Carito of Prompton, PA; a brother, Richard Dailey of Cochecton, NY; several nieces and nephews; and her loving beagle, Daisy Mae.
She was predeceased by five sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, September 19 at Ramsays Funeral Home, Kauneonga Lake, NY. Burial was made in Evergreen Cemetery, Bethel, NY.
