JeffFest promises a day of fun

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY — JeffFest, a day of events specific to the health, welfare and entertainment of children, will be held on Saturday, September 22. Entertainment will take participants back to a simpler time, with sack races, three-legged races, a smarty-pants contest and scavenger hunts. Entry in all these events is free, but registration is required, starting at 10:00 a.m. on Legion Street. Prizes will be awarded for all competitive events.

For a nominal entry fee, fairgoers who want to race but don’t want to run can enter a wheelchair race through a hay bale maze. The entrant with the best time will win 50 percent of the proceeds, with the Jeffersonville Ambulance Corps will collecting the rest. Other groups are setting up game booths, face painting, hair dyeing, crafts and more. For the car enthusiast, there will be a classic/custom car show.

After the races, Joe “Elvis” Borelli will play dance music on Mullally’s back deck (bring blankets or lawn chairs).

Among other groups participating will be the Masons, who will have a booth in which you can have your child photographed and fingerprinted and their DNA recorded for identification purposes; Hudson Health Plan, who will have information on new guidelines for eligibility assistance on health insurance options; the Healthmobile, which new this year, will offer blood typing services to all; and Jeffersonville Enhances More of Sullivan (JEMS), opposite the Three Chocolateers, which will have a raffle for three fruit trees donated by Korwans Nursery.
