Sarah Van Ouwerkerk’s photographs in the upcoming exhibit at The River Gallery provide a new perspective on our equine friends.

Photographic ‘HorseScapes’

NARROWSBURG, NY—HorseScapes, an exhibit of the photographs of Sarah Van Ouwerkerk, will open at River Gallery-The Art of Living on Saturday, September 22 with a reception from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The exhibit runs through Sunday, October 14.

Van Ouwerkerk is a New Yorker who received her Master of Fine Art in photograghy at Brooklyn’s Pratt Institute, where she later served as chair of the media arts department. Her photos have been seen in more than 50 solo and group exhibitions in both the United States and Europe and have appeared in Smithsonian Magazine, Cure Magazine and Women’s Art Journal.

Symposium provides writers, illustrators with a blueprint

HAWLEY, PA—The Wayne County Arts Alliance’s annual Writers and Illustrators Symposium, “Navigate the Maze: From Blank Page to Published Piece,” will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 6 at the Falls Port Inn on Main Avenue.

JeffFest promises a day of fun

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY—JeffFest, a day of events specific to the health, welfare and entertainment of children, will be held on Saturday, September 22. Entertainment will take participants back to a simpler time, with sack races, three-legged races, a smarty-pants contest and scavenger hunts. Entry in all these events is free, but registration is required, starting at 10:00 a.m. on Legion Street. Prizes will be awarded for all competitive events.
