Hors d’oeuvres, champagne and a Broadway

sneak preview benefit United Way

HAWLEY, PA — Stars of the Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall and Broadway Theodore Lambrinos and Hallie Neill will perform “A Scandalous Affair” at the Woodloch Pines Heritage Theatre from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 30. The show, a benefit for United Way of Pike County, is a chance to see a pre-Broadway opening accompanied by hors d’oeuvres and free-flowing champagne. Tickets cost $100.

“A Scandalous Affair” reveals one of the great Hollywood cover-ups: the Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy love affair ( see www.jeanetteandnelson.com ). Neill and Lambrinos portray this shocking love story, laced with humor, Hollywood secrets and real-life love letters, with a spectacular mix of music by Cole Porter, Noel Coward, Rodgers and Hart, Victor Herbert, Verdi and Puccini. The New York Times called it “rapturously played and sung” and The Boston Globe praised it for its “powerful acting.”
