Sign a contract with citizens

MONTICELLO, NY — A few days after Democrats unveiled their platform, Republicans came together to unveil a platform of their own. Moreover, adopting a bit of political theater employed by the national Republican Party back in 1994, Sullivan County Republicans publicly signed a Contract with the Citizens of Sullivan County at the Government Center on September 11.

The five points of the contract, however, are quite similar to those offered by Sullivan County Democrats in their platform news conference on September 6.

Republicans pledged to do the following: stabilize taxes while reducing spending, end closed government, bring economic development to the county, ensure public safety, protect the environment.
