Sullivan human services advocate Canales, featured in film, to head discussion
LOCH SHELDRAKE, NYComing out of Dark Days, Marc Singers multiple award winning documentary following the lives of several homeless people living in the bowels of Penn Station in New York City, will be shown at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18 in the Seelig Theatre of Sullivan County Community College (SCCC). The film won the Indie Spirit Best Documentary Award 2000, the Los Angeles Film Critics Associations Best Documentary Award 2000 and the Sundance 2000 Film Festival Audience Award, Freedom of Expression Award and Cinematography Award.

3:10 to Yuma an inauspicious return of the Western genre
As a matter of full disclosure I feel it necessary to tell you that, as a filmgoer, I have an extraordinary bias for Westerns. I have yet to experience a feeling comparable to that little twinge of excitement I get when seeing someone take familiar aspects from a well-worn genre of larger-than-life posturing and come up with something original and exciting. Westerns, to me, are the genre that best represents that possibility.

La Vie en Rose at CineArt
CALLICOON, NYThe Delaware Valley Arts Alliance and the Callicoon Theater will present La Vie En Rose from Friday, September 14 through Monday, September 17 at the Callicoon Theater. The movie is the story of Édith Piaf, who was plucked from the streets of Paris to become the most beloved French singer of her time, and has been praised for the extraordinary performance of Marion Cotillard as Piaf.
